If I may answer - there is a name under the banking details, but putting a name on the transfer is really for your own ref - the banks don't go by names.
Thanks for that - yes, I know that its' BSB and A/C# that are the important things but did wonder if there was a correct account name to use.

Recommended guidelines on collection of funds for attending events advertised on AFF

AFF is a community of real people. Just like any other community, our members meet up and enjoy shared events such as meals, sporting events, activities, and travel. Typically, the event is organized by a member ('the host') who collects funds from all participants to cover the cost of the event. The host then uses the money collected to pay the service providers.

Given the growth of our community and the increasing number of events organized, I believe there is now a need to provide recommended Guidelines for collecting funds from our members.

These are Guidelines only and hosts may elect not to use them. However, hosts are now required to link to this post when promoting an event on AFF and clearly state whether or not they are following these Guidelines.

In all situations, please do your own research so that you are 100% comfortable before making any payment to an AFF member.

AFF is not - and cannot be - responsible for any payment made between AFF members.

Recommended procedure for payments less than $100 per participant

  • Host to provide a clear statement of how the required payment amount is to be used.
  • Host to provide details of any administrative charges (including Paypal or other 3rd party fees) included in the payment.
  • Host to specify the amount to be refunded if the event is cancelled and when that refund will be made.
  • Host to specify how any excess funds will be used.

Recommended procedure for payments over $100 but less than $500 per participant
  • As above plus..
  • Payment to be made to a especially created bank or Paypal or EventBrite or TryBooking account or similar 3rd party service.
  • The host has exclusive financial control of the account.
  • At least one other participant to the event has reporting access to the account.

Recommended procedure for payments over $500 per participant
  • Host to contact me (admin). We will then work out a specific arrangement that I will then post on the thread.
This event follows the AFF event guidelines.

There are no administrative charges.
Excess funds (if any) will roll over to the next annual AFF event.
If any part of the weekend is cancelled by the organisers or individual event operator the refund of that part will be in full.
Member cancellations made up to two weeks before the event will be refunded in full. Cancellations made less than two weeks prior will be assessed on a case by case basis - basically it depends on what we have had to pay up front by then.
@support and I have set up a joint bank account. We both have oversight of it.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes I paid yesterday. Really looking forward to the events. I used points for the flights and accommodation to keep up with frequent flyer rules. I usually stay out at West Lakes Resort as it is close to our office. That would be inconvenient for this gathering.

Paid for the dinner on Saturday night.

I'll also be staying at the Hilton even though I'm a local. If anyone has any queries about other things to do in Adelaide if you're not on a tour please feel free to ask. The weather should be perfect around then. There is a local bus that goes up to Hahndorf if you fancy a wonder around there.

We did contemplate a visit to Hahndorf, but figured it wasn't worth the effort for the time we would have had off the bus.

Just to add to the other suggestions for things to do if you have extra time. Also happy to help with any other queries :)
  • West End Brewery tour (Fri/Mon)
  • Coopers Brewery tour (Fri)
  • Visit Port Adelaide for Aviation Museum/Maritime Museum/Railway Museum/Dolphin Cruise
  • Do a ghost/crime tour of places like the Adelaide Gaol or the Parkside Lunatic Asylum (Google Adelaide's Haunted Horizons)
  • Do a food, craft beer or chocolate tasing tour (probably lots of companies out there, but I did one with foodi.com.au a while back and enjoyed it)
