AFF Flight Tracker

I don't understand this computer stuff. Tonight, Flight Tracker is back to normal, even though I have done nothing to my 'system' (no cleaning etc) since this morning, when it was still jiggered.

I can also access the oneWorld Explorer page which had also been playing up.

Oh, actually there was something I did - I sacrificed a chicken this afternoon - that must have done it.

OK, so after some off-and-on experimenting in the past week, this is my situation. Kaspersky up-to-date; ran Spybot Search-and-Destroy; ran CC Cleaner.

If I have my internet on via mobile data (3G/4G) via the SIM in my laptop, I can access the Flight Tracker page (also the oneWorld oneX page) as normal.

If I have my internet via wi-fi, I cannot access those pages (AFF Flight Tracker mostly blank, as per post above; oneWorld oneX page just spins wheel).

If I have wi-fi on, no access; if I then turn wi-fi off and mobile data on, and do nothing else, I can access the pages by refreshing them.

Started about 10 days ago.

I know this isn't a 'help line', but if anyone can figure out what's happening here (or at least suggest options to investigate), I'd be appreciative! Not a major issue, just weird. (Oh, using IE11; the same problem I had using Chrome as well, but the problem with AFF Flight Tracker seems OK now (OK with Wi-Fi or mobile data),

Thanks serfty ... Telstra ... but I'm pretty sure the same thing happened when I was on the university's Eduroam network.

I'm afraid everything in your 3rd & 4th line are in the 'too hard' basket for me, :) so looks like I'll carry on with this minor inconvenience.

Hi guys

I have decided to retrospectively import my flights into Flight Tracker but I am having some issues.

I am trying to use the CSV import tool and have created a CSV file (as per the specifications) from my 2014-2018 flights which I have previously been tracking on ba97.com, and from my 2006-2013 which I had in an old manual spreadsheet.

The issue I am having is that I get an error saying one of the airports is not recognised, and it asks me to add it. When I go to add it, and enter all the details, I am unable to click the add button. It doesn't do anything.

Any ideas?

(The airport I am trying to add is WMI which is Warsaw Modlin Airport)

Still has major bugs with the following (all data entry and auto-suggest bugs):

Virgin Australia (autosuggest goes to DJ and not VA) - in order to honour historical data needs be fixed

Aircraft type: B737-800 corrupts to a centre justified format which then trashes the format for the entire record and corrupts the field further by putting (B737-800) in brackets (see screen capture)

Aircraft type: in general for aircraft type is a schermozzle - have a look at Saab 340 as an aircraft type (can't screen capture it as the process of screen capturing itself "bugs out" and eliminates the auto-suggest)

The version of Open Flights we use for AFF Flight Tracker was last updated in August 2012... as such, there are some pretty big gaps and bugs. We are looking at a more up to date version, last updated in June 2015.
I am sure it is not as easy as it might sound - upgrades never are.

While I’d love to be glass half-full about third party add-ons:rolleyes:, @support can you give us a heads up before rollout so we can backup as a csv file?

TIA

We have a development environment we use to test things so everything goes as smoothly as possible. Since we moved to Xenforo we have added countless add-ons that required testing first to ensure compatibility and Xenforo itself has gone through 9 system updates.

I agree that you always have to be wary, and we are. We keep backups. We test before release.

I might just continue my apathy and wait for the upgrade to happen before loading my 900+ flights. Still up to help me @Bundy Bear ?

Just take the plunge, then you can export the CSV and always re-import if you need to :)

Whenever I update my OF, I always dump a backup to CSV so I have that as a record. Then I can fire it up in Excel and do some filtering etc. to work out year totals, etc.

I'll give it a go, but I know I need to do some deletion of information in the CSV file from BA.97 to get the correct columns on information for Flight Tracker. You're actually assuming I have a level of proficiency that I know I don't have...

Surely you can take a course... somewhere that requires travel in a premium cabin? ;)

Failing that, bring your laptop to the picnic.

There seems to be a problem with logging in to add flights.

I'm logged in to AFF but the tracker thinks not.
