Sale extended until 11 January for travel until 31 January...

Basically agreeing that it's not worth more to fly business class right now. Thanks to the 30% discount it means the difference in points is averaging about 4000 points more on domestic redemptions which is a reasonable value for a bigger seat, more legroom and the amazing "snack box" (which comes with drinks other than water).

Well I've got half a million points to blow - I guess I'll be making 2-3 interstate weekends away in late Dec/Jan and hope that the lounges and inflight service gets a bit better by then...

I just tried to make a booking for Canberra to Perth mid Jan but the discount hadn't been applied at the point where I needed to confirm the booking. Is there a trick to this or does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks

What price are you seeing? The discount is automatically applied to bookings.

Virgin currently doesn't have any Canberra to Perth flights scheduled so you will have to connect hence the points may be more. I've just checked and I can see the discounted pricing obviously these are without taxes.

Hi Henrus - thanks very much and you are quite right. Flights are always indirect so I'm used to that, but the flight I'd looked at was via Brisbane and not the usual Melbourne or Sydney. Much appreciated.

It looks like this offer has now ended, rather than being extended yet again.

I did use this offer to book a J flight last week - sadly the catering is still extremely limited and there's no sign of this changing until around March.

Still, it was quite good whilst it lasted.

On most routes, it was just 3000 extra points between economy and business class which for just the extra seat was worth the points. I actually thought this promo would last until the announcement of a renewed business product but obviously that hasn't been the case.

I suspect that was probably the intention. Lack of East-West flying, ridiculous ban between VIC/NSW/QLD (or MEL/SYD/BNE) means now is not the time to launch a new product IMO
