Here is the place for off-topic (non-aviation) discussion of the 2023 Soccer Women's World Cup.

As with all discussion on AFF, the general posting guidelines apply. So be respectful, even of teams competing against "Our Matildas".

I have the tickets to the Final this Sunday so I am really hoping that Matildas wins tomorrow night.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The only thing more surprising than the form of the Matildas, is the rate at which people have become experts in Womens Football!

SA Premier isn't in favour of a Public Holiday. But suspect he might get pushed Into it. Likely, hopefully, we will be in Bali but if we are here it will be disruptive to our current busy work schedule. Then there's all the scrambling for long planned for medical etc appointments that need to be rescheduled. Let alone the costs to small cafes etc to pay triple rates. Suspect they won't open. I don't really see the point of a PH unless there's a celebration March and that won't happen in Adelaide for weeks if at all. Makes sense for Sydney to have one though.

I just hope the managers keep the team away from the social media hype and blitz.

"The Aussie cricket team have been cheering on the Matildas and Warner got in on the action as he wished them the best against the old enemy. And he couldn't help but take a cheeky crack at the English while doing so."

I think the women would do well not to listen to the Cricket Team.

Well, no PH in SA. Nice work. 😀. Thrown down the gauntlet. 😂

Premier to spend $18m on female sport in SA instead of Matildas public holiday

The Premier has ruled out a public holiday if the Matildas win the World Cup, saying it would cost $18m – instead vowing to spend that money elsewhere instead.

Many Australians can ill afford a PH. Think of all the casuals who don't get paid if they don't work, many already struggling to make ends meet. Just the latest in a long list of stupid govt ideas.

Yes, he's ruled out a PH late today. But will put the money towards womens sport.

I was referring to the national PH proposed by the PM. Your SA Premier doesn't get a say in it.
The PM can only suggest it, it's up to the Premiers as to whether or not they call one. So yeah, he kinda has a large say in it here. 😉 You were quoting my post which was about the SA Premier not being in favour of it.

You're right but that isn't the case according to FIFO Albo who reckons the premiers will fold like tents. Must be his steely gaze. ;)
'Public holidays are up to state and territory leaders. But, you know what, we've got a national cabinet coming up next week,' he told 2Day FM on Monday.
'I'll be clearly putting the argument, and I reckon they'll fold like tents. They will go one after the other.
