The days of inspirational leaders are long gone. All very insipid these days.

In Australia, anyway. US still manage it. Trump certainly inspires passion - love him or hate him, and in the Dems, Sanders certainly oozes authenticity (although he will never get a chance to go up against Trump). Even NZ throws up Arden, at least you feel she stands for something.

You could put Shorten in charge of LNP coalition with LNP policies and Morrison in charge of ALP with ALP policies and I don't think anyone would notice the difference. :p

Billy is spending our money before he has raised it. Wayne Swan did that with the “mining tax” and that mucked up all of his budgets.
A 21% wage increase proposed for smallish businesses will cause lots of retailers to shut down and we already have lots of empty shops.

Maybe the more interesting prediction is how long until the future elected PM gets rolled by their own party ?

The new WA ship building extravaganza will help. Even though Defence bods were taken by surprise at the announcement. ;)

I just voted and have a sense of relief.
I got my vote out of the way this morning too.

The senate paper took me by surprise. There are two names on it of people I know reasonably well and didn't know they were running. And one of those names was especially familiar! ;)

Oh, @Pushka, I asked at the Sale EVC and they won't be open this Saturday, however they will be open on Saturday 11th May. So I expect that will hold true for other EVCs for Mr P.

Urgh. Just arrived at the pre poll Centre. I thought it would be busy and I could sneak past the flyer people. Nup. Pretty much deserted. Wish me luck. I’m a sucker though. I take something from everyone.

I wasn’t too sad to see the end of Malcolm Fraser, Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull to name a few dud leaders as I saw them.
Yes an AFF competition would be good fun.

Oh. That was awkward. I was just summoning up the courage to say no to one flyer person then next thing up bobs that candidate to introduce themselves to me. Oops. I took their flyer....

For anyone going past a polling station, you can pick up 'how tos' to peruse in the privacy of your home if voting later.

So Shorten is still having a go at the Libs for preferencing Clive.
But here in Tassie pundits believe 2 ALP seats may be in play.So guess who the ALP is doing a preference deal with.Yup the fat man it is.

This one looks to be a carbon copy of Macron and Trudeau .... won't be long before the masses start to dislike her too
It is of course an easy claim to make but she has been there for a year and a half now, so no sign yet of the honeymoon being over, if anything recent events have elevated her status in NZ.

Whereas with Macron at least it didnt take anything like that before the people turned.

Probably helped that she didn't actually win the mandate outright, like Macron and Trudeau. She had to negotiate with Greens and Winston Peters, which a means of keeping her and her party in check.

Did you get a surprise? :)

I took my Ipad with me to do the Senate. I went for the four I wanted and then the real bottom dwellers 5 thru 12 to avoid any leakage of my vote. I was surprised Rod Culleton was listed in WA as I thought he would be ineligible.
