20,000 Woolworths rewards points with a pet insurance policy

Do I need to write a letter for each policy or can I just do one letter with reference to all policies?
If they are all in your name/address then one letter that lists all of the different policy numbers would be fine.

May be an issue if they all expired on different dates though, as this may delay when you sent the letter.

In any letter make sure you specify the date that the policy is cancelled. This would assist in recovering any premiums they may deduct after this date.

They cannot. I've already indicated this. I've already cancelled some policies by email. Tell them that you cannot call and will refer them to APRA if they refuse to cancel your policy.

I wouldn't waste my time calling them. Snail mail or email are the only methods I will use to communicate with them.

@SoftDraw why dont you write a cancel letter and have someone post it for you when the points post?


Can you please share the “emil address” we can send an email to, for cancellation of the policy. Also do we just send an email with the policy no., and should it be exactly 30 days from the 1st payment premium ?

Sending an email with just the policy number will achieve nothing. Send an email with your policy nothing telling them to cancel your insurance policy would be better.

Do not send until 21 days have elapsed from the commencement of the policy.

Do not send until you have your points.
 
Just got a letter in the post box confirming my cancellation last week.

It basically reiterates the pre-recorded terms of cancellation I was played when I phoned them.

I just read there is a $30 cancellation fee unless the pet dies. Has anyone had Woolies try to charge this fee when cancelling?

I would have thought most of us will fall into the part I bolded - certainly never paid the annual premium. If there is a $30 fee for alive cats, I suspect the RSPCA will need to be on high alert as somebody has rung the bell to commence cat shooting season.

Read the term. This seems to be a good example of people not reading their contracts closely! It applies only to those who paid an annual premium.
 
Dr you are correct.... my eyes naturally skipped to the red flag of the $30 fee!! Email sent

Thanks GSP as well.... the RSPCA has just saved on some overtime!!

Just passed 30 days - no points -
Got off the phone - woulnt comment about being in breach of T'c and c's -
Asked for additional compensation..

Saw this morning that I had been charged for a second month for a pet I cancelled a week ago. Will grit teeth and start firing off emails tomorrow morning but I suspect cancelling out on all my beloved little critters is going to be a slow and frustrating process and I’ll earn every point I assume I’ll eventually get.

So far only got points for first pet.

I called to cancel today, on 1300 10 1234.

It took 9 minutes, but I know it's cancelled now, and I only paid 2 premiums.



I did. Unfortunately... I did my weekly shop on Monday.


Did they ask you the reason to cancel the policy and if yes what did you say.

We refer to your recent applications for Woolworths Pet Insurance and the current policies for the pets you have insured. We have identified that you have applied for and been issued multiple policies within a short timeframe. Given these unusual circumstances, we are contacting you to verify that the terms and conditions of the policies were met at the time of application and continue to be met as at the date of this letter.
We list below the details of the policies that have been issued to you as at the date of this letter in respect of your pets (Your Pets), including the pet names, breed, policy numbers and dates of commencement:

Page 17 of your Product Disclosure Statement states:
It is a condition of Cover that the insured Pet must reside with you and be under your regular care and supervision at the physical address you provided to us.
To verify that you meet the condition referenced above (the Condition) for each policy, we request that you provide a completed statutory declaration stating that you satisfy the Condition in respect of Your Pets

- in other words, confirming that each of Your Pets currently live with you at the physical address you have provided and are under your regular care and supervision.
For your convenience, a blank statutory declaration form has been provided so that you can provide the information outlined above and have this duly signed.
Important information about policyholders’ obligations
In addition to meeting the terms and conditions of the policy (including the Condition), insureds have a duty to disclose matters relevant to the insurers’ acceptance of the policy pursuant to section 21 of the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth) (the Act) and both parties have a duty of utmost good faith in relation to the contract of insurance pursuant to section 13 of the Act.
Under section 60 of the Act, an insurer may cancel the contract in the instance where:
a) there has been a failure by the insured to comply with the duty of disclosure;
b) there has been a fraudulent representation by the insured; or
c) the insured failed to comply with a provision of the contract.
You should be aware that cancellation of a contract by an insurer may impact on a person’s ability to obtain insurance in the future.

You beat me to it. I have received the same letter. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

Obviously will not be sending in a stat dec. I have a couple of policies coming up to the 30 day mark so will wait for that to click over on the off chance some points credit. Then will ring and cancel. Some policies will still be within the cooling off period so hope for a refund.
