Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

No one in thread, for the offer that ended 31 October said they booked flights for periods outside 01/10/13 and 30/11/13 and received 15% off the rewards seat redemption rate
Dan - I posted earlier in thread that Cruiserette transferred pts into VFF and got 15% bonus pts - then on Oct 30 she booked 2 x J redemptions LAX-MEL for late Sept 2014 - effectively approx 30% less pts required than normal - 15% bonus on transfer and 15% discount for redemptions Sept 2014 - does this clear it up at all?

Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

operated is the key word in regards to dates reward seat flights could be booked and taken to receive the 15% off the redemption rate for the offer that ended 31 October.

As to your second post, nothing I said refers or interprets what you have posted

Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

You seem to be the only example of that occuring if indeed you did get 15% off the rewards seat redemption rate for Sept flights when booked under promo ending date of 31 Oct. My father booked rewards LA flights for next year in this promo period and did not get 15% off the rate.

Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

This offer applies to Reward Seat and Any Seat bookings made on Virgin Australia marketed and operated flights between 1 October 2013 and 30 November 2013.

You are trying to read it as "This offer applies to Reward Seat and Any Seat bookings made on Virgin Australia marketed and operated FOR flights between 1 October 2013 and 30 November 2013." and it really does not work.

If that was the case it would have been written something like "This offer applies to Reward Seat and Any Seat bookings made for Virgin Australia marketed and operated flights departing between 1 October 2013 and 30 November 2013.".

If that does not convince you, then be aware that last week on November 5th I made an award booking using the 15% discount for May 26th, 2014.

Are you doubting me? Normally MEL-LAX / LAX-MEL in J is 94K pts o/w - with 15% disc was 79K or so - want me to go on?

And I am sure I am not the only one - plenty others will have taken advantage also.

I didn't actually book anything but when I was window shopping in early October, flights marketed and operated by VA during May 2014 were offered for 15% less points than normal.

Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

I booked in October for flights next July and received the 15% discount (VA29 to AUH).

Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

Thanks Serfty, yes looks like I was trying to read it as you say and I am wrong, apologies for my ignorance to those who I posted saying I was right they were wrong etc! (markis, fruitcake, cruiser and others) made was probably the key word I should have looked at and not operated!! I'm a bit embarrassed now.

From what I had posted, there would have been no issue with your booking made on the 5th of November. I though the offer was changed on 01/11/13 to have no travel date restriction as that wording is bold highlighted and thought there was restrictions around the offer that ended 31 October however it's basically an extension.

You are trying to read it as "This offer applies to Reward Seat and Any Seat bookings made on Virgin Australia marketed and operated FOR flights between 1 October 2013 and 30 November 2013." and it really does not work.

Don't apologise dan - I am usually right - those other clowns seldom right.
I'm a bit embarrassed now..
And no need to be embarrassed either - important lesson here - read and learn - read and learn - these dudes posting here possess a wealth of knowledge - be clever - feed off what they post - will drive your FF mile much further.

Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

Thanks Cruiser. I have benefited off Virgin terms before and shared with other's, so I know sometimes the terms do not always mean what they mean! A prime example was the Companion memberships when first making Platinum and then another 500 and 1000 got the comp memberships with having to requal first http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/virgin-australia-velocity/ok-i-really-unhappy-velocity-33020-6.html#post652684

I clearly read them wrong this time even though there was no benefit in doing so.

Re: 15% off Domestic and International Reward Seats?

As cruiser said, don't apologise, I've confidently posted incorrect things before and unfortunately will probably do so again :p.

Agree, the subject matter was not the clearest promotion we have seen in the first place!

Re: 15% discount on Award bookings & 15% bonus on CC Points Transfers for October 201

Isn't it refreshing that a discussion can end so amicably - unlike other threads ;)

Hopefully VA Marketing can learn from our discussion.

Re: 15% discount on Award bookings & 15% bonus on CC Points Transfers for October 201

Does the 15% discount apply only to the 'full points' payment, or does it also apply to the 'points+pay' option?

I'm wanting to book a VA DOM J flight with my (minimal) point balance. Most of my flying is QF and my CC earn is direct QF sweep, so my VA earning is quite low. I don't have enough points to book the reward J seat fully on points (even with 15% discount), however, using the points + pay option, I would have enough points once the 15% discount is applied to this lower points amount. Does anyone know if this would work?

It is reduced up front so how you pay should not be an issue.
