Ft posts have 65K as the post low Qualifying amount so fa.

58K did not seem to qualify. So somehwere in between was the cut off.

Mal, I would chase this based on the anecdotal evidence so far.
So looks like I was indeed lucky :D

How do you falsify your balance? Unless they were never verified.

I suspect the request for screenshots were just to try to get people to be honest, and that as a whole they were never verfied. There may have been some spot checks, but I don't believe there was any verification of all the entries.

I suppose that a lot of people including myself would simply send the screenshot based on the assumption that they would ignore any entries that did not include same. :(

I was asked to verify on registering; it wasn't a screen shot of what you normally see; there was an HH URL you had to cut, paste, execute, take an image of and upload said image.

I thought that was the case BUT as it was a while ago my mind was a little fuzzy about that.

Chased up, and a manual crediting of points as a Goodwill adjustment (with a "Congrats you're in the top 20K") email as well. Current reports at FT have IHG saying 70K was the cut-off point. I was very close, so perhaps I snuck in under the barrier!

Congratulations Mal. :D

And the major winner ... out of 70,000 entries had nearly 5 million points!

Beatles tour promoter wins 2 million points in hotel loyalty war contest - Hotel Check-in: A road warrior's guide to the lodging landscape - USATODAY.com

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) gave business traveler Charles Rosenay 2 million points - the grand prize in its "Luckiest Loser" contest that targeted unhappy Hilton HHonors elite members.

Rosenay of Orange, Conn., is an entertainer and Beatles tour promoter who often travels to Liverpool who had accured a Hilton HHonors balance of nearly 5 million points - the most of about 70,000 people who entered IHG's "Luckiest Loser" contest. For the grand prize, IHG loyalty program dumped 2 million points into Rosenay's Priority Club account - enough for about 80 free hotel nights.

Congratulations to him! That is 400 PB nights for free!
True, but that doesn't look like what he is going to spend the points on:

So what's Rosenay and his family going to do with the 2 million points?

"My wife wants to use points for things we've needed in the house a long time, like a big-screen TV and beds for the children - things we have been putting off for a while," he said. "We're going to try to find ways to utilize the points in ways beyond just hotel stays."

 Oh well, different folks....

115 HHonors millionaires is quite an amazing number :!:

There sure are a lot of points floating around out there.

I see three interesting points from the article :

* There were 114 other "HHonors millionaires" in the competition (I wonder how many more who didn't even know about it or couldn't be bothered or who don't use IHG as one of their preferred hotel group or PC Rewards as one of their programs)

*Beyond the grand prize, Priority Club also awarded nearly 400 million points to another 20,000 "Lucky Losers" (so the majority of people received the 20K maximum. I wonder what cost they have "incurred" to issue the 400M points.)

* The loyalty program recently asked the members of its online public community what they would do if they won the grand prize. While most said they would take a "dream vacation," a large percentage indicated they would prefer to redeem the two million points on electronics from the Priority Club Rewards Catalog, such as HDTVs, home theater and music systems, GPS devices, flip cams, and laptops. (as I said above, I'd be in the first group)
