Hi All,

Congrats on your 2.8 million pts lovestravellingoz!!!! Well done lol.

I have recieved 450K and am still owed over 100K, I should recieve them soon says AMEX!!

The question is, what which Frequent Flyer program to put them into for best value. I want to make a decision before the 31 March deadline for transfer to QFF. I have heard SQ or SPG or Velocity or QFF may be good.

Can anyone please tell me what they think is the best program and why?

I want to do mostly international travel and I dont want the points to expire like I have heard the do in Krisflyer after 18 months.

Lots of thankyou in advance!! :)

If going to QFF you will have to do before March 31, if going to SQ you can keep them in MR until you are ready to use them.

It may also depend on where you wish to fly...buta few points.

SQ if you can get the has great value saver Awrds. f booked on-line a Business Reward to some Eurpean Cities is on 127,500.. However SQ +++ taxes are currently expensive. But all in all great value.

With QF maybe a RTW Onewolrd Buisness for 280K ..or econmy for 140K.

If you already have points at AA you may wish to top up...but it is very costly to transfer even though burning at AA is good.

You may also consder Malaysian if it flies somewhere you wish to go..

Virgin Atlantic can be good...but some report Business can be hard to get.

With SQ the 18 months can be extended...and also that is just when it needs to be booked by and not used by. Plus you can park the points at Amex and only transfer to SQ when required.

With you flying..is it just you? a couple ora family.

If it is only for one or two you can put some points to QF and leave some at Amex.
again havea look at where you want to fly...and with that both SQ and QF also have Partner Airlines too.

It expires after 3 years.

It expires after 3 years.

From Krisflyer some additional detail:

Expiry of miles

Your KrisFlyer miles are valid for three years, and you will be notified in your account statement before they are due to expire. As a KrisFlyer member, you may extend your miles once for six months at a nominal fee. If you are a KrisFlyer Elite Silver, KrisFlyer Elite Gold or PPS Club member, you may extend your miles for one year. Simply login to extend your KrisFlyer miles online.

lovestravellingoz, My understanding is the FT member was quoted saying:

By publishing all this you gave AMEX very good proof that you have indeed acquired your points fraudulently

Now without looking back at all your posts in this thread (not something I intend to do ), unless you have made comments here as to how you obtained them that demonstates beyond reasonable doubt that they were fraudulently obtained, then I wouldn't be worried.

I remember a couple of your posts - but nothing to my recollection was fraudulent about your useage of the card. Multiple shopping debits at Myers, DJ's, (even place like Bunnings) on the same day is clearly within the rules as they weren't explicitly disallowed in any version of the T&C's that were published. How could they anyway - that is the method of each of these shops use - multiple tills dotted around each of the different sections to allow people to buy as they go, rather than have to lug them all to the one central till, which would only cause huge traffic jams and very unhappy shoppers.

I agree that any judge and jury, when given the facts of your smart shopping using the rules to your best advantage, would be in a state of apoplexy and have no trouble in throwing the case out of court. Storm in a teacup.

My plan (which seems to be changing constantly) is to top-up my Qantas points to 150k to make sure I can use my existing points effectively, and then SQ for the rest. I'm not worried about points expiring because I won't transfer them until I'm ready to use them.

I just wanted to say thanks to the people who posted useful info on here, especially about the FOS, as I've finally received all my points from Amex. They held out for a long time and kept changing the date when I'd get them, and also the story behind the delays. Finally they responded when the FOS contacted them, and within days I had all my missing points.

If others are having difficulty getting their remaining points, I'd strongly advise you to stop beating your head against the Amex wall and contact the FOS, as in my case it was the only thing that worked. Thanks again to everyone's useful input.

For the record, I got about 800K out of the promo, which, despite the unpleasentness of delaing with Amex, still makes me feel very good about the promo. Cheers all!

I'm figuring that as time goes on, more and more of us are having our points post in full by Amex, and those of us that still have outstanding are dwindling. I'm figuring too that those of us that still are disputing points have done so through the FOS by now. Is there anyone still battling with American Express directly?

Of those that are still disputing, what level are you at? Have you only just sent in your initial complaint to Amex, or are you waiting for arbitration from the FOS?

I myself sent in the original complaints to Amex and the FOS in December, and Amex have been dragging the chain a little bit. Amex had one chance to respond and instead decided to send me a form letter suspending me from the program instead. They've been given ANOTHER month to respond to a second letter to the FOS, and they only have a few days left before their response is due.

So, those of you that are left, what stages are you up to in your disputes?

Sorry to go a bit off topic....

but can someone explain, what was printed in the Sydney Daily Telegraph newspaper on 18 March, P. 67 ??

In a story about QFF, the article states, that Frequentflyer.com.au was commissioned by AMEX, with the owner of the website being Clifford Reichlin.

Is this correct? Is Clifford aligned with AMEX, and if so, then is he providing details of our 'chat' to AMEX ??

Someone put it another way for me, because, to me, this sounds really sus.

This may be a little OT, but some posters had expressed concern about getting their points before the Qantas cut-off date. I spoke to my Centurion rep today and was told that all Amex Centurin & Platinum CHARGE card holders may continue to transfer to Qantas indefinitely. Apparently this is due to the above average points transfer volume for these card-holders, as opposed to other cards/products.

Given recent events, I would like to see this is writing but has anyone else had similar conversations?

Junji,

This has been discussed at length elsewhere here and the information you have been given is correct correct. I just can't find the link at the moment :!:

Amex wrote to all Plat Chg card holders some time ago saying that we would move to Premium Ascent post 31 March and be able to choose whether to waste points in QFF or use them more effectively as we wanted rather than being hamstrung by QFF's change of the game (or you could read that as yes you will as a Plat Chg card holder be able to continue move points to QFF and any other program as you feel fit).

Point 1 - Amex can read this thread whenever they like and don''t need to have details provided by Admin.
Point 2 - I think if you are concerned about the integrity of Admin you should address that question via pm or email directly to him
Point 3 - You actually trusted the factual acccuracy of something in the SMH ?

Not sure about lovestotravel's intentions but a few ideas:

  • Use the current Earth 3.0 per $ by March 31 = 300,000 points = RTW Business Class with points left over..by maxing distance and stops you should get close to the mark (ie equivalent to 6 cents per point in other programs".
  • Use Amex MR and transfer at 1.1 to SQ...use Saver award and 150,000 points get reduced by 15% (or 25% if you can snag one pre Sept) aand so for 127,500 you can get say a Business Class Return to Europe.
  • Or with SQ use the partner award for 150K for Business redemption.
lovetravellingoz,

The best I can work out of these is around 4 cents per point or slightly less.

Please carry on discussion in this matter within the aforementioned thread.

This is an open, publically available board. Amex, can, and do read the posts on this board. No need for Clifford to tell them anything.

The actual results of the analysis are on this board, and I don't think there was anything underhand about this.
