Flew QF A380 J dec 15. Syd-Lax. As LCD sceen is stowed for takeoff and landing, was unable to see flightcam for the most interesting parts - takeoff and landing. This feature available to F, Y and PE as they have screen infront which is not stowed
Also they don't like you to come down main stairs as that's F area!.

On this flight 12B did not level flat. The seat part below hips was angled lower than torso part leading to uncomfortable sleep. It was. VH-OQH

Overall QF Excellent

It is the only part of travelling J I don't like. I have watched the camera in F and thought it was wonderful.

the 'droop' in the skybeds is a well know issue apparently. There are some solutions out there to fix the problem.

As for the stairs down... was this during flight? It should strictly be for First class only. I don't think there's a reason for business class to go there?

It is a bit of an annoyance, it is the only time I would watch the IFE

As it should be. The area downstairs is F only. In the same way you wouldn't want Y pax wandering through J during the flight.

The mattresses "iron out" the lumps and bumps but I agree with you the "droop" is prominent. I'm no big fan of the Skybed MkII (or Mk I for that matter!!)

Overall QF Excellent

I think QF has a decent hard and soft product overall though. The service has definitely improved over the last twelve months in my experience.

This was QF11 - correct?

I was on this flight travelling F. Waiting to use the toilets during the busy period prior to landing....watched a gentlemen exit the toilet (I was waiting for) and then walk up the stairs to J :evil::evil:

Then watched a family of 4 walk down the stairs for a stickybeak.....before the FA's finally sprang into action.

Which one were you?

I find it difficult to sleep in QF J seats and on my A380 sectors have spent half the night wandering up and down the front stairs without comment from the crew. Aren't the curtains at the front of the F cabin drawn shut for nearly the entire flight? Having a party down there, entering the F cabin (or even approaching the curtain, given potential for light intrusion) or using the F toilets (!!!) is obviously not on, but I would expect more disruption from sounds in the Y cabin/galley than from me stretching my calves outside the coughpit door.

Re the stairs, to be fair I'm not sure there is any sign at the top asking people to remain upstairs. I certainly don't remember seeing one.

but the WCs are there, and I don't know what it is... but business class passengers seem to love sneaking in to the F WCs. A recent QF flight confirmed this when the forward F galley (747) was unattended and I went to use the WC only to find both occupied (by business class passengers) and another two business class passengers helping themselves to first class refreshements.

Confused - you say the seat was angled you couldn't sleep (common issue it appears) but then also say QF is excellent. I would have thought the seat in J was a rather key part of an airline review?

just wondering. I'm shortly doing QF to LAX in J. Normally fly CX. It it's hard to get the ~ out of Perth internationally now.

QF overall is excellent. As with anything in life nothing is perfect. Re seat: above hip parallel to floor, below hip slightly angles to floor. 12B VH-OQH

J walkers are going to use the toilets......the bloke from J that got caught doing the dunny run was changing out of his PJ's.....poor form IMHO.

Why not stretch the calves walking down the back stairs?

Ironically, I went forward because I wanted to remain in my own cabin. If there was a rope across the front stairs as some carriers apparently use - or a placard of some kind - I wouldn't have gone down there.

Of course the challenge is that anyone rude enough to use the F toilets is probably going to jump a barrier anyway.

Yes, there is a design flaw in Mk 2 Skybed.

After a year or so, the lower part begins to droop as the hinges wear. Can be rectified with one's rollaboard strategically placed underneath.

Irrespective of whether in F or J, I always use the front stairs for stretching / gentle exercising during flight. When in J, I've even made it to the bottom landing! ... without any adverse comment from FAs or noticing any sign directing the contrary. But use of the F bathrooms by J pax is well out of order.

J passengers giving themselves a flight enhancement

Not flown J on the A380, but I wonder if the issue is similar to the 3 class 747. Simply not enough J toilets. Obviously using the F ones is a no-no, but a sign to QF there is an issue there.

i had exactly the same experience the first time I flew J on the 380 - missing the skycam! of course it is a simple matter to wait till the FAs are seated then take your screen out and enjoy the view :)

Why bother staying in your seat? Why not wander up the front and knock on the coughpit door? Even better view up there... =P
