Apparent lack of showers Dubai Emirates First Class Lounge Terminal 3?

Hi, all. We recently flew business class to London with Qantas via Dubai. Andrew's Platinum frequent flyer status meant we could access the first class emirates lounge in terminal three. I could only find a spot in the lounge near our departure lounge with three ladies showers one of which was not fully operational (only the hand held body shower, not the over head shower working). On our return journey the queue at the ladies made it apparent that waiting for a shower would be too stressful (only an hour 20 minute 'stop over'), and I visited another area to have a basin 'wash up' only. I could not find any other showers. Should I have visited the spa area? any other hints? Along with many other forum members, Andrew and I are questioning our loyalty to Qantas. Platinum frequent flyer privileges are becoming limited further. PS I am a gold frequent flyer member. Thanks, Allyson

From posts from other members who have transited through Dubai, I believe there are showers at either end of the lounge (or rather, there are two sets of shower areas). Definitely worth asking a lounge attendant if there is a line or non-functional showers.

Maybe post this in Qantas?

There seems to be 20 showers at the DXB EK 1st Class lounge. Totally 10 for men and 10 for ladies, split over 4 locations? So it perhaps pays to ask for alternatives if the showers seem full! But after just 7 hours or so from LHR (where there were showers) and with only a 1.5 hour stop over (meaning way less than an hour would be possible in any lounge) is a shower even an expectation?

I think you are being a bit harsh on Qantas when the lounge is a partner lounge and is actually one of the best lounges on the planet.

Each of the three first lounges that I discovered on a recent exploration of DXB has lots of showers. Each is also very very close to a business lounge, which also has lots of showers.
Sorry that you missed out and it is possible that you not have been able to make best use of the available facilities.

I'd certainly want a shower after a 7 hour flight before getting on another long flight - and I've done it plenty of times with just as short a stop over in Singapore.

Agree, same after a seven hour work day before flying home.

It's not the 7 hour flight that bothers me, it's what lies ahead (which is often a 14 hour flight - or vice-versa). Yes, I'll be looking for the showers when I transit in Dubai.

Yes, and I've managed to do it at DXB - but only just! It's the time factor of the transit stop that I was meaning to emphasise. If only a 1.5 hour stop, by the time you de-plane, go through security (can take a while at DXB - there is (usually) none at SIN), get to the lounge (can be a fair walk in DXB), get to the showers (also can be a fair walk at DXB!) ... and realise that boarding may start 30mins or more before departure, it's always going to be close call. So should it be an expectation?

I was as quick as I could be and there was no waiting at the showers, yet the boarding announcement was made while I was still in the shower room, just as I was packing up my carry-on.

And even at SIN I've had to wait nearly an hour for a vacant shower - but YMMV.
