Alan Jones comments at Liberal function

Re: New Virgin Campaign

Let's be clear. Alan Jones peddles clear untruths - shrinking economy, cough about climate change, etc. He has encouraged sexism and violent response. AND YET retains the support of the Liberal party. Perhaps you missed Abbott's lacklustre (zero leadership) response, the defence mounted by George Brandis, and the praise from Brownwyn Bishop. Of the very fact that Alex Dore from Syd Uni Libs thought it would be grand to invite the pathetic old fogey to a uni dinner

Jones has in common those other right wing apologists, such as Miranda Devine and Alan Bolt. They are right wing - they peddle deliberately misleading **** - and attract a following among some folk who would rather have an easy one liner solution to a complex issue than to take the time to debate an issue.

Because they are in the media they should held accountable but Jones, at least was never properly admonished during the cash for comment affair thanks to the LIBERAL GOVERNMENT and Howard's buddy Prof Flynt - I'm sure you know the story fella
Come on you are totally twisting my thoughts.Remove the beam from your own eyes.
Google what Bob Ellis said about Julia on the same subject. And he is no right wing liberal.
And I just love how Nicola Roxon et al are trying to turn this into a hatchet job on Tony Abbott. That after the job they did on Kevin Rudd just a few short months ago.Nastiness occurs on both sides.
End of story.

The end of the story will be when you admit that Alan Jones is both a well loved doyen of the Liberal Party AND a complete maggot of a bloke with the deluded opinion that he is above the law and above everyone else for that matter.

Then we might be able to shut down this nasty episode and move on. Your call.

Sorry it is your call.I have never supported Alan Jones.
I believe though that he is not the only complete maggot in this country and by no means all of them are associated with the Liberal Party.
Certainly here in Queensland there are a few prominent ALP members that have been the guest of Her Majesty.

Re: New Virgin Campaign

Drron you have just reminded me that I haven't replied to someone who is currently OHMS.
He will be needing a job when he emerges from being a guest of Her Majesty and that may be as hard for him as Alan Jones getting a new gig.
I am glad we don't get his broadcast in Perth as we have our share of nasty people already.

Both parties seem to support unsavory characters........member from Dobell springs to mind! Let's not forget Slippery Pete......& the 2009/10 ALP national president.......the list goes on & on & on!

I must have missed the Peter Slipper stuff. I can't recall him doing anything illegal or inappropriate..........unless you define being attracted to another adult of the same sex as inappropriate.

Depends if you think spending tax payer money like confetti is ok? Nothing to do with sexual preference.

This tool has been taking all of us for a ride for over 20 years......tolerated by both parties, so they are both equally responsible. Libs are more at fault as it's been going on longer - the Mal Colston of the libs/nats!

Its alleged there has been inappropriate use of travel benefits, a claim I believe that's the subject of two investigations aside from the current legal proceedings.

Sexual harrassment of a junior employee in the workplace is inappropriate whatever your sexual preferences are.Yes he has not been found guilty but certainly has been accused.

So.........basically it's alleged he did something, but as it stands............. he's done nothing.

Otherwise known as the concept of being innocent until proven guilty, but just in case your stood down anyway.

Re: New Virgin Campaign

$50,000 worth of nothing.

That's the legal system for you. I have been through cases which have settled or not settled, all because of money and not because what was a just outcome. A law firm I use to work for often tried to 'settle' claims against [insert Defendant here] because 1. our claim would have succeeded 2. our client would want to settle ASAP to reach finality to their claim 3. it would save time and 4. it would save alot of costs on both sides ...... sadly on many occasions the defendant refused to settle, decided to "take it all the way" and we'd always succeed anyway. They weren't model litigants - even though they were supposedly the 'champions' of that idea - and consequently they were given bad publicity in the press for doing what they were doing.

The Pete

Had a great giggle today.

Slippery Pete :-

"I've been incredibly distraught as a result of these proceedings, they have been amazingly expensive"

Just like his outrageous travel expenses:!:

Part of me hopes this case goes on & on & on &............:D

Evidence please?

You really need to wait until next year for that evidence. Don't you?

I am just wondering what ever happened to forgiveness in this country?

This is as far as I could read before having to reply. Is that like the forgiveness for the stinking evil, [w]itch who made a promise but, once the dice were rolled found that the promise could be kept? Or is the Coalition and their supporters the only ones deserving of forgiveness? And everyone else need to kill the [w]itch. :p

I'd laugh but it is just not funny.

Born to rule, hey?

Oh dear,oh dear.Should have read further and post 47 by me clarifies what i meant.
Your response is typical of what is wrong with politics in Australia.Too eager to attack.

And by the way as far as I can see I am the only one in this thread to critiscise all sides of politics.Just so you dont have to go searching here is part of my post(33)-
It is about time all our political parties thought more about policies than the thoroughly overdone denigration of your opponents that passes for politics today.

Dont worry I actually have a feeling you are a nice guy so I forgive you.

Woolworths manager who is heavily involved with NSW Liberals and was MC on the night just resigned...

I find the whole press on this amazing.
Sure Alan Jones is a divisive and controversial personality and he said something totally dumb...

But we live in a country where free speech is protected.
and this includes racist sexist stupid bigots.
I tend to just ignore those people

More amazing is some of the online hatred against Jones and the Radio Station.
.. in a country that supposedly values free speech and tolerance

I saw a Facebook post where a "named Sponsor" clearly stated they had never advertised on the Jones program but merely on another timeslot on that station.
Not good enough was the response, you are still on that station (that Jones partially owns) and deserve to be "lynched"

What next...
Jones as shares in Telstra -- boycott Telstra
Jones flew Qantas and Virgin in the last 12 months -- boycott Qantas and Virgin
Laws supported Jones (partially) and lives in Woolloomooloo -- no going to Woolloomooloo
Jones lives in Australia -- oh, must leave...

Seriously...

Some interesting chatter on twitter regarding the sexually explicit tweet by Catherine Deveny on #SensitiveTony

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone and all that ;)
