Qantas (QF) in the news

The news always says the same thing, wew have to pay you like you live in a 2nd world country to compete. Yet where is my 2nd world cost of living? Who is reducing the cost of my train ticket, groceries and electricity bill? If you give Australians a 2nd world wage, you end up with a 2nd world economy too.

Note that the "former CASA chairman" is **** Smith, whose various pronouncements can occasionally be a bit "flaky" (IMHO).

It's been a while since he was at CASA, but he still flies helicopters :)

Interesting quote from the article:

Frequent Flyer helps protect Qantas's share of premium traffic on international routes, but Virgin Australia's Velocity program is expected to provide more competition in future, especially if its tie-up with Singapore Airlines is approved by regulators.

Picture 4.jpgOff the QFSource, interesting the perception that comes to mind when an aircraft just returning from mx has to return mid way through a flight the next day. Ofcourse it may entirely me a co-incidence or bad luck:oops:

The rumour on PPRuNe is that it was a paperwork issue, not a technical problem: QF029 HKG - LHR turnback? - PPRuNe Forums

I wouldn't know if that would happen, but it seems pretty extreme to turn the plane around for that issue, and also must be the cause of some embarrassment for whoever was responsible for the paperwork problem!

I guess it depends what the paperwork issue was.

Am I the only one who quite likes the current designs?

Probably time for a refresh, don't get me wrong, but I quite enjoy them nonetheless.

Hopefully the new designs aren't too complex, etc. Something nice, simple and modern will do just fine IMO. Bit more red perhaps :)

The rest have been fairly uninspiring.

The brown (gold?) pattern looks much nicer than the silver, but I only see silver for some reason? But that’s only because it’s broken up with a jacket, when not it’s just too much.

Edit: I see the brown/gold went out in 2007, shame.
