Qantas (QF) in the news

The uniform is like changes to livery, and meal presentation - people love to speculate, comment and judge but really, it doesn't make much difference to the actual airline.

For my 2 cents, I don't like the current ones. That silvery print combined with the black tights isn't Australian to me and the men always seem to be in such dated jackets. And why are the women in blazers? So masculine!

The current VA dresses in that sublime red colour are an example of a uniform done extremely well - simple, smart, feminine yet very stylish.

What a non event today - the uniforms will be out in 2014. Seriously? What a waste of time announcing the designer, just get on with it.

Who ran down the roo is an excelent article by Michael Pascoe.
Has received a lot of feedback some interesting comments along with the usual negetive dribble, "won't ever fly them again like last week"

Suggests that the management well paid as they are and the board have a lot to answer for... along with a few others.

Well worth a read

+1 excellent article. One of the few on QF woes that's worth reading.

Thanks for the link.
1 part which l have been thinking about which was mentioned in the article

Now Qantas is stuck with an aging fleet that is fuel expensive and is deferring the 380s it needs to be competitive while giving its first 787 to Jetstar. Blame Joyce.

As has been mentioned a few times, the 767's are really starting to look tired. Still have 'main-screen TV', in Y and J....

Have to agree there, I had IIRC OBA (a 767-338) on my ADL/MEL/BNE sectors Wednesday. Grainy and pale so I gave up watching - thank God I had excellent FA service

Hypothetically wonder if VA given the choice, would pick being the flag carrier with all the restrictions that QF faces along with the sale act conditions.

OR if they'd pick their current split model which has enabled them to sleep with multiple foreign airlines and investors....

More interestingly I wonder if QF had the choice what they would pick...?

It's a topic for our Honours Society dinner tonight as we have a VA rep coming along to speak (unsure who).

Government (including the Opposition and the other infamous Joyce): Abolish the Qantas Sale Act so Qantas becomes a free standing enterprise like any other private company should be.

Then, rack off and stop taking a vested interest in Qantas and its welfare.
