Thanks for the advice on cheaper gas bottle refils, I never thought that the convenience factor would cost lots more than the good old hand filling!

There is a Ray's near me and also another bottle place about 10 mins away, I will ring and ask for a price next week

In Winter I tend to go through 2 bottles a month, with the gas heaters I have outside..

re: 5xbonus at BP 'til 31Dec2011[Ext.to 31Mar2012] Must register your card.

Rays, BCF and Campmart are all part of the same chain - and when there is a bunnings near they drop their prices on the swap and go to match!

My closest BP does hand fill and swap and go. Swap and go is best for keeping bottles in date.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

May I suggest then that you consider having your heaters and BBQ if you have one plumbed into the distributed supply as the gas is so much cheaper if you are using a lot...plus you never run out and would save a lot of hassle..

As for Gas, the bunnings 'Kwik Gas' swaps are currently $19.50 locally.

You generally don't get such prices at BP's etc.

That would be for the smaller bottles ? I only use the 8.5/9kg ones

By and large most purchases besides petrol are where Petrol Stations make their profit from, and are generally much better value bought elsewhere.

One exception is the Woolworths double milk purchase which gets you another 4 cents off per litre, plus 4 litres of milk for $4. Depending on ow big your tank is...the milk can effectively be free, or very cheap. As my Pajero normally needs about 80 litres, the milk only costs me 80cents ;)

Well I filled up with petrol and $600 worth of gift cards.. was chatting to the guy as he was activating them and told him why i was getting them. he thought it was brilliant!!

I filled the car and got 2 x $100 gift cards - but I'm not sure she did the right thing - other than scanning the card, I thought she needed to register it but she was adamant she did all she needed. I'm not convinced.

They need to activate the card. it takes a few minutes for each. I'm guessing they won't work.

Thanks nlagalle, although I told her about their folder with the 10 step process, she failed to follow. I'll be back there to bail her up.

They need to scan it....and then swipe it through the magnetic card reader to put the credit onto each card.

However, I bought $1000 worth on 30th and it only showed up today the 2nd (though correctly back dated to the 30th). So yours may have just been slow like mine if she did do it correctly.

I tend to agree..when we find / identify a loophole, best not to say much...

So best no one say it on here?? Internet is far more reachable than telling someone in person about it.

Seriously the whole purpose of the promo was to spend more at BP. Mission accomplished I'd say.

I am currently "in discussions" with a BP for a $50 card that was not activated correctly. The guy was fumbling for ages and I thought he did it, but the card has no credit.

After that one, I have kept all the receipts, both for the purchase of the cards, and more importantly the activation receipts for them.

They are telling me I picked up a card off the shelf and it was never activated and they never took the $$ from me. As it was the only thing I purchased on the day I rang Amex and disputed the charge, see what happens from there!

I didn't say that. All I said was best "not to say much" ;). Actually, a lot of peiple don't post a lot of stuff now on AFF and other sites for fear (real or not) that the loophole gets pulled but I guess that's an argument for another day.

I keep all receipts for exactly the same reason in case of the above situation...hope it gets sorted!

Saying it here is most likely OK, as I doubt anyone from BP reads this...

However, telling a console operator, who tells his Manager about why they sold out of gift cards, who then tells the Area Manager etc etc.......

However, at the same time BP now has thousands of $$ in their bank account instead of either getting very little of it, or getting it over the next 12 months!

I wonder if the store actually makes anything out of a gift card sale ?

Dick Smith seemed happy when I was buying Wish gift cards from them and mentioned that it "looks good on our sales figures for the day and week"

Fully agree.

Besides in this case BP Gift Cards can only be used at BP!!!! So buying BP Giftcards is just locking the purchaser into future purchases at BP!!! You are still going to have to buy stuff off them.

So buying BP Giftcards is hardly a "loophole".
