Can you use Citi Bank Take Flight and get a return flight to HK with the 60k points from this promo? Or do you need to enrol QFF and use the 60k for the return flight to HK there?

Cheers

Just been reading over this thread. I see it's not just me that found their customer service during the application service absolutely woeful!

I originally applied for the 50k offer advertised via QFF.

They were on the phone to my payroll dept within the hour.

The first thing I thought was terrible was the incredibly ambigous email they send out re ID documents and what to send. I asked for an email address to send these to (once I thought I had the list clarified), which was never forthcoming...and each time the person I spoke to asked for a different set of ID docs; ranging from just payslips to passport PLUS driving license PLUS 3 payslips PLUS mobile phone bill PLUS bank statement PLUS savings account statement!

I ended up getting annoyed and telling them where to shove it! Surprisingly they haven't called me again chasing for the ID docs which I assumed they would...I must have a red flag in their CRM system!

HOWEVER, I could definitely be prepared to go for it all again for 60k points at $125 (+$49 QF fee). I'm sure my existing application will be sitting as 'conditionally approved' (EDIT: just checked, it shows as cancelled) still...would that make me an existing customer or not? I really don't feel like asking any of their customer service reps, I KNOW they wouldn't understand!

Citibank still reviewing my application progress, its conditionally approved now..
i want to get this deal 50% off 1st year fee.. do you guys think i can get this deal if i mention it when i call to activate the card once i got it approved!?

Recieved the proper confirmation email now so all approved and hopefully in the post next week.

Now to cancel my Westpac Amex/Visa !

FWIW... I wasn't asked for any extra I.D ?? I haven't held a Citi card before but they have sent me offers via post before...

It does not say you need to be a new customer

For the regular 60k deal that's true, but to get the half price annual fee, if you go to the site posted, the first paragraph of the conditions has:

Citibank Credit Cardholders are not eligible to apply for this introductory offer.

:(

Re: Citibank Plat VISA 60 K , May 31 - 60k CANT BE CONVERTED TO QFF

Guys
Just thought id let you all know that the 60k points CANNOT be converted to Qantas Frequent Flyers or any other type of airline rewards points.

I just got off the phone with Citibank and they confirmed this. There goes my chance of getting a business class one way to Bangkok (60k points) for the cost a $250 annual fee!

djjk

I was told the same and when I said 'no thanks' they offered me 50k in points direct earn to QFF.. All a done deal now

Hi Guys,

Coming to how you all can apply for the reduced fee
Visit citibank.com.au/specialoffers
And type code PDW3B2CA ( Reduced Fee $ 125.00 )

Let see if they issue me with a card or not don’t care any more :-|

Thanks for sharing..... mmmm... now this card sounds like the best deal for bonus points... :D

I should read better, i was looking for words like "new" or existing"

Tried to apply today, under the reward program there's no "Qantas" option, just the citirewards. Does anyone have the same issue?

The same thing happens if you apply for the 50k QF points offer actually advertised by QFF.

I think you have to call up later and opt for Qantas Rewards. It's just yet another thing that is incredibly poorly explained during the application process!

I can confirm you can earn QFF points, but you must be careful how you do it.

Firstly, posters who note there is no option for QFF direct earn during the application process are correct; you do not choose QFF direct earn during the application, but only after you have received your card, but before you spend on it.

Make sure you:
  1. Do not use your card before you have opted in.
  2. Opt in to the QFF program before you spend on it.
    1. Activate your card.
    2. On a separate phone call (so the nice Citibank person doesn't get confused), opt into the QFF rewards program. Agree to pay the $49.
  3. Once you have your pin, before you spend on your card, set up online access, go online, and check if you're opted in.
    1. Click on the rewards option on the right.
    2. Click on the Browse through Citi Rewards
    3. You should see that you're in the QFF program. If not, ring up and get it fixed.
  4. Once you're certain you're in the program, spend on your card!
  5. You won't see the points until your first statement - where it will show your spend points (you don't get points for the annual fee, additional cardholder fee, etc), as well as 60,000 bonus points, all listed as QFF points.
The Mrs now has a nice 70k points to transfer to me, which will mean on the trip next year we'll be sitting in J and the rug rats will be in Y.

Good work! And thanks for confirming :D

Did you call Citi before you went through all this, to make sure it would be applied (and also to have some leverage against Citi in case it wouldn't be applied to QFF after first spend)? I would be very angry if I had to pay $49 to opt in to QFF but it wouldn't apply...

Thanks for the info. I was wondering however... you said 'Dont spend' what about balance tranfers? Does that count as a spend? I'm not enrolling in QFF but moving points to KF.

Good work! And thanks for confirming :D

Did you call Citi before you went through all this, to make sure it would be applied

No (not before applying - would have been OK to just get the points - we could use the Citibank travel option for local trips in a worst case), but checked information posted elsewhere on this thread / forum, and confirmed before opting in.

Don't know, but I suspect not - so I think you'll still have to spend. However, please don't rely on my guess, because that's all it is.

Hi Anyone here have received their 60k QFF points?
still undecided whether i should or not
i called they said it can not be converted to QFF but some here said you can...
im confused!!

Yes, I received my points today. It was not easy, I had to call many times becuase I received oppoiste answers, but finally I have the points.

We have now called Citibank for the 4th time in 24 hours and requested to talk with a supervisor to confirm that indeed it was the case. She asked us to send the add in which the advertisement was made and told us she will call to confirm. Several hours later she did call and confirm that indeed 60,000 points will be credited to the QFF account once a purchase was made within the date limits. We will keep the group posted on whether or not this happens.

Finally I received the 60,000 point in my QF account. The secret was dealing only with the supervisor
