^^ That is for the separate 50K QFF points offer, not the 60K Citibank rewards point offer.

Well at least the 50k offer is backed up in writing... and also scattered through the qantas site.

I would take the quick 50k rather than having a fight in the future regarding the other offer...

I just emailed Citi asking whether it can or cannot be allowed.

i'll get a response in writing and will report back.

Re: Citibank Plat VISA 60 K , May 31 - 60k CANT BE CONVERTED TO QFF

Guys
Just thought id let you all know that the 60k points CANNOT be converted to Qantas Frequent Flyers or any other type of airline rewards points.

I just got off the phone with Citibank and they confirmed this. There goes my chance of getting a business class one way to Bangkok (60k points) for the cost a $250 annual fee!

djjk

Which Rewards program does this enroll in then?.

On this page
https://www.citibank.com.au/AUGCB/I...ipper_content/travel_catalogue&layout=success

it says Citi Plat can transfer to Singapore, Velocity or Asia Miles, QF though is I think a separate program.

Also since the application URL bonus rewards points says 600K points is 6 flights there has to be some rewards program these are earned under, maybe Citi Takeflight program.

Guys this is the response I got from Citibank:

Thank you for your email.

To be eligible for the 60,000 bonus Citibank Reward points, the Citibank
Platinum cardholder must activate the card and make the first retail
purchase (excluding cash advances, balance transfers and other special
promotions).

For your reference, Citibank Platinum cardholders may enroll with the
Citi Qantas Rewards Program. This will enable cardholders to
automatically transfer their Rewards points to their Qantas Frequent
Flyer (QFF) account on the next day of your statement cycle date.

Please note that the above promotion is equivalent to six one-way
flights based on a restricted economy domestic fare from Sydney to the
Gold Coast redeemable on-line as at 07 February 2011. Flight values
include all taxes and charges and baggage fees. Flight values are
subject to change without notice based on travel and booking periods,
routing, availability and carrier.

For further details on this offer, you may contact our New Business
Department on 1300 130 865 from 8:00am-8:00pm (Sydney time), Monday to
Friday and 8:30am-5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

If there’s anything else we can do to assist you, please let us know and
we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you for using the Citibank Australia Website.

Thanks Gumpy.

This offer is starting to look more legitimate then when it first posted.

I notice mention of QFF in the on web page T&C's which is a good start and elsewhere on the Citi site its pretty unambiguous about Plat and Select owners being able to join QFF and have a direct sweep of points for 49$ extra

platinum_credit_card

I've seen it written elsewhere that when you ring to activate your card you have to nominate you want to join QFF _at that time_ this is apparently extremely important if you want the free bonus points to transfer directly to QFF.

I think I'll go for this one.

Virgin Card and Citi Plat possible?

Wifey applied for Citi Plat Visa and easily fulfills their requirements - however she received letter stating she is ineligible because she currently holds a another Citi card.

She phoned them and after the run around for 30 mins and after being passed onto 3 different operators she discovered that because she holds Virgin Card she is ineligible to also hold Citi Plat Visa.

Anybody else experienced this phenomena?

Yep...

I couldn't apply cause I have citibusiness card... and I was like... but it's a business card...

In the end they said I need to apply later cause my citicard is still new

They told her thaty also - if she holds Virgin card for 9 months she can then re-apply for Citi Plat.

When I applied Citi told me they could just split my credit limit between the Virgin and the Citi Platinum card.

Does that mean that the bonus 60k reward points applies even when the Qantas FF option is selected (ie. have the 60k points transferred to QFF)? Seems a bit strange for them to have the bonus 50k QFF points offer if one can take up this bonus 60k reward points offer.

Thats how I'm reading it.

As for running dual promotions, yes, I agree, seems weird. But only a few weeks ago they were also doing a 40K promotion.

Citibank seems all over the place to me. Their website is missing important links (to T&C's for instance, though they can be found elsewhere), ambiguous statements or no statements in relation to points (when do they arrive ???).

One can only hope that collecting screen caps of the various bits of info would be useful later when the whole deal falls in a heap. I guess ringing the call centre and asking for a fax of the offer + T&C's might bear fruit and head off pain the future?

The Woolworths Everyday Rewards Mastercard also earns 1 point per $1 and is also Platinum as well (even if it takes a magnifying glass to identify it as such :p). At $89 per year and no additional cost for a second card it's the best value on the market at the moment for earning QFF points. If you want a second card just be sure to apply using the paper form rather than doing it online.

I read elsewhere that expenses relating to business are not eligible for reward points. Citi offer looks good even with 120k cap.

Re: Citibank Plat VISA 60 K , May 31 - 60k CANT BE CONVERTED TO QFF

I applied and I asked whether was possible to convert the points to QFF and they said yes. Last week I received the credit card and before I activated it I asked again if the points could be converted to QFF and they said it was ok. However I called again to confirm the information and the answers were contradictories. After calling 4 times I have been told they can be converted in 3 of the calls. I am not sure what can I expect. Has anyone receive QFF with this credit card???

Did you opt in for the Qantas rewards program (and paid $49)?

What's best would be for you to get a response via email and follow up later if you don't get it.

Thanks Delfredo. Yes, I did pay for the $45 at the time of the activation fo the card and even requested that if it was not possible to obtain the QFF I would not proceed. At that point they did agree that it was ok.

I think it is a very good ideato request a written response. I will do that and keep the group posted.

I questioned this issue and received a crystal clear email in reply from Citibank:

"For general reference, please be advised that once you have enrolled your account in the Citi Qantas Rewards Programme, the 60,000.00 bonus Rewards points will then be automatically transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Please note that the bonus points are awarded to your account once the criteria for the promotion has been met and you have the option to enroll in the Citi Qantas Rewards or Citibank Rewards Programme."

We have now called Citibank for the 4th time in 24 hours and requested to talk with a supervisor to confirm that indeed it was the case. She asked us to send the add in which the advertisement was made and told us she will call to confirm. Several hours later she did call and confirm that indeed 60,000 points will be credited to the QFF account once a purchase was made within the date limits. We will keep the group posted on whether or not this happens.

Has anyone got both the Woolworths Qantas CC and the Citibank Platinum CC (QFF option)? For everyday use, which would be a better card to have in my wallet? I rather not carry both.

I note that the Citibank card does not have paywave.

Any fee-free for life cardholders applied for this card?

Not sure whether applying for this plat card will affect the free visa card?
