Success and in writing too.
Finally after numerous dealing with citi I am getting my 60,000 points not the measily 5,000 points they offered me. Pays to be insistent.

I am still fighting with them over my 60,000 points. Before I applied and I rang and it was confirmed that the offer was valid. When I got my paperwork no mention of the points so I rang and asked them to confirm the offer. They did. So I continued with the application. Before my first spend I rang again and asked them to confirm the offer again. They said they would get back to me. They didn't. I rang again and they confirmed that I would only get 50,000 points. I refused stating that the offer was for 60,000 and asked to be put onto a supervisor. They said the offer had expired - even though there is no expiry date on the link and the link obviously works or I would not have been able to apply in the first place! Took all the details about the link etc and I told them it was false advertising and I would not be going ahead with the card if they didn't honour their advertising. Not available but she would call me back in three days. She didn't. I rang again - guess what supervisor wasn't available. Explained the story again and I told them I would wait online until Supervisor was available. Was cut off. Send complaint email explaining etc etc. No response. Rang again and tried to cancel the card was immediately put onto a supervisor. He apologised for my trouble etc etc and said that my supervisor would return my call within 1 hour. She did!!!She said the matter was before her Manager and she would ring me back within 3 days. No return call. Rang again last week got to speak to my Supervisor - she said I would not be happy with their offer but as a good will gesture they were willing to offer me 5,000 points. How insulting!!! Not happy and I told her so. She said she would put it again before her manager and I said if they were not willing to honour their advertising I would not be going through with their card and I expected all charges to be reversed and the card cancelled. They have until Monday or that is what I will do. I also told them that the link was still active and falsely hooking people in. I have a family member who works for Department of Fair Trading, so they will be getting a letter too!

Well negotiated Quokka.
Are you going Kris Flyer or Qantas or something else?
It is good fun once you get it running.
I have been using these points to get to England and Los Angeles on a pretty regular basis.
Kris redemptions on SQ have been "available" when I have chosen to fly.

Yes it is good to have a win occasionally:). Luckily I followed the advice on the forums and kept details of all phone conversations, etc. I have signed up for Qantas however on current reflection, having regard to the current industrial market, will there be a Qantas in 6 months. Only time will tell.

I have also moved my 'scabby' Commonwealth Awards Card points over to velocity for their 20% bonus before their offer expired. This is the card I am abandoning. I have enough for 2 return flights to Fiji so that is OK. So now I have got 2 FF going.

Next will be hubby's business - I reckon a Kris Flyer option for him and then I will have all bases covered.

It takes some organising but the rewards are there for the taking.

I'm probably going to try again with Citi later this year but only as a backup card. Given what we all know about their modus operandi I've hate to have to rely upon their services.

I imagine QF pulling through, hard to tell if it will be in its current form or vastly changed, but my guess is that the transformation of QF is going to take many many years and lots of pain for everyone. Having said that though, I'll be starting a 'hedge fund' this year of points accumulation elsewhere, hopefully Amex MR.

Yes, I did the same. Got a nice stack of Velocity points now and opportunity to spend them at quite good burn rates seem to abound. Unless the CBA flings me a free year this card will be going in the next month or so.

Personally not keen on points schemes where the points expire, but I'm a bit torn. I'm unlikely to be saving points over large periods of time, they are there to get used, and used they do indeed get :), but still, I'm in principle against points expiry. I can't see why some schemes do this, aside from simple customer gouging (its a sort of forced breakage).

Interesting story, went to cancel my card. After refusing their offer to combine the credit limit with my other Citibank card, they offered me a refund credit of my annual fee that I paid in May, which I readily accepted. I'll spend that up and cancel again another day. :)

Perhaps something to look forward to for those who have gone through a bit of trauma to get their 60k.

Just got a T&C variation notice through for this card - from 1st April 2012 QF rewards points earn ratio drops from $1:1 to $1:0.5

Well I guess it did its job and will serve as a good reminder to cancel it prior to the annual fee coming due.
