Amex 5 x points at Dĩck Smith (over $50)

Anyone had experience with Dick Smith Price matching ??

I am after a product which is $50 cheaper in most other stores, but would prefer the 5 x boni points on the purchase.

I wonder if I can buy it at the Dick Smith price on Amex and then get the refund in cash :D

They did for me for an SLR. $100 off. They matched the JB HiFi price no questions

Well there is also Amex Price Protection that you could consider... Although, read up your PDS to ensure it is valid for what you are wanting ;)

That it the one I went to a couple of weeks ago and no Wish cards.

Queen St Mall (Brisbane?) - They had plenty when I recently visited. They used to hide them under the counter, but now the Wish cards are on the wall in the gift card section.

Yes. I was there a couple of weeks ago and all I could see was Dick Smith gift cards.

Another store in Sydney said they do not stock the Wish cards anymore and I grabbed the last 4 Dick Smith gift cards they had on display.

It does not matter to me as Woolworths accept the Dick Smith gift cards and my parents are helping me increase my MR points balance. :D

So where is the DSE specific cards valid at?

I took the last Wish card from one Brisbane DSE today ...

TIP: Just swing past another store type that has them, say Safeways and stock up on what you need....and then take them when required to DSE to put the actual $$$ on them.

I do this all the time when KMart etc have an Itunes sale, and normally run out of cards. I just grab some from another store and then get Kmart, or whomever is having the sale, to put the value onto them

The one in my wallet says it is valid at all participating stores. And at the bottom of the card there is mention that the card is issued and remains the property of Woolworths Limited.

As far as I understand the card is valid at any Woolworths owned stores. So far I have used it at Woolworths, Woolworths Liquor, Big W and Caltex/Woolworths Petrol.

I am due to buy some more gift cards in the next few weeks. Should we be going to different stores? ;)

Technically, non-DSE stores are not supposed to accept DSE branded cards. However, there doesn't appear to be anything that actually stops them being accepted across the group.

I checked online, and didn't see proof that it would be accepted elsewhere... so it is interesting that you get it accepted.

Lol @ stores. I may have gone to one DSE on a certain street that has a garden that is always in Winter.

(IF you can't work that out, ask me again on drink's night)

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

Just jumped onto this bandwagon and bought a $50 WISH gift card today from DSE.

Hopefully it will credit within the next few days in full, although the website does say that it may take weeks. Then again, the same messages have been posted about all such bonus point promotions.

I might have to think in smaller terms because I'm only up to 50 transactions on Hopscotch.

If you have registered, the bonus points post at the same time as the standard MR points. This is normally with 60 hours of the transaction.

Better speed up then - only 11 days to complete the remaining 50 txns to max out the promo:cool:. Maybe buy multiple $50 Wish Gift cards from D ick Smith;)

re: [closed for registration] 6 Points/$1 at Ðick Smith (over $50)

Sounds good - I'll check tomorrow.

Fired up the spreadsheet, and it turns out I should spend the remainder of my gift cards that I want to buy in $20 increments, which forfeits the 5x bonus anyway but would net at least another 1000 points via Hopscotch. Ah well...the things we do for points.

Since it's all for Mum and she's paying me for the gift cards, she'd probably want a cut of the points back to her... ;)

Won't work. Mum's only planning to get about $400 worth of gift cards (since she shops at many places, not just Woolworths, so that's how much she estimates would be used in a year at Woolworths).

So using Hopscotch to the max would only pile on another 20 txns, but still all good to take advantage of.

Amex 5 x points at Dĩck Smith (over $50)

Purchased $1000 in wish cards on Friday. Second time that the sales person has said whoever is getting these wish cards is lucky. SWMBO and I looked at each other and just said "yeah they are".

Your mum doesn't buy fuel? A wish card can be used across the whole woolworths group - fuel, big W, booze etc.

5x promo runs until June, so plenty of time for that anyway.

She does... can you combine a 4c discount from an Everyday Rewards Card and use a Woolworths Group card to pay at the same time?

Even then, she doesn't always top up at Woolworths+Petrol or designated Caltex, since she also gets Coles Group vouchers which means she also tops up at Shell.

I should ask, because it might befuddle a few shop assistants. Can you use more than one gift card in the same transaction? For example, if I have three gift cards with balances $1.50, $5.50 and $20, can I use all three at once to settle a bill totalling $27.00?

Yes you can.

I did it yesterday.

Yes you can also get the discount and use a gift card. The discount is about how much you need to pay and the gift card is how you pay.

I also recently had to use the same gift card to pay twice as I didn't know how much value was left. They first processed it for the amount I knew was left, that told me the balance remain, processed for that amount then paid the remainder owing with Amex card.
