Credit card options for retirees

Today I had a win for the 'old guy' when I was approved for a Virgin Money CC, despite my trepidation in applying after reading the posts above.

This will be the first FF CC I have had in many years and, certainty since retiring. It was easier than expected with approval after only one phone call. I was cautious about applying so only asked for the lesser value card and for a low limit, but enough for the time being.

Our only income is from a SMSF and a small indexed Australian Government pension. They did not even ask for details of our UK Pension payments. Did not even want an accountant's name - just as well as we don't have one anymore.

Now to spend enough to get the 70,000 VA points on offer and the yearly travel credit that almost matches the annual fee.
I’m on my third or fourth round of applying (and being accepted) for this card since retirement. Along with the Qantas Money card it seems to be relatively easy to get, income requirement is low. In general these (ex) Citibank white label cards seem easier to get as a Retiree.

To be clear, anyone can get a QF Money card given that it isn’t a CC.

So the

QANTAS PREMIER PLATINUM

offered by Qantas Money isn’t a credit card? Nor the Everyday or the Titanium?

That’s obviously totally different to the standard QF Money card… now called QF Pay…

Probably best to refer to the product name.

Not gonna argue with someone who says the QF Money card is actually not a QF Money card! Tomatoe, tomato.

Just looking for an argument rather than adding value!

Up until very recently a “QF money” card was the preloaded travel debit card. Now known as “QF pay”. There are several threads here with that phrase in the title.

Yes, QF are now marketing their CCs under the general brand of “QF Money”. My earlier comment was just suggesting that it would helpful to use the specific product names - as listed here to avoid confusion.

Definitely not. Can’t stand AFF’s who do that.

Ok, maybe I made the assumption that in a thread about credit cards people would be smart enough to realise I was taking about QF money credit cards. Clearly mistaken in that.

More importantly, which QF card was easy to get with no salary* income?

*it’s not just “retirees” but also self-employed who don’t pay themselves a “salary”, or those who live off investments etc

Maybe you should start a new thread given this one is clearly ‘Credit card options for retirees’. So in context, yes it is just retirees.

and we would still appreciate the value add on advice of what cards are possible.

For me it was the Premier Platinum, I’d assume the Everyday also easy but (for me not as valuable). 35 K income is pretty easy to prove, even for retirees.
