Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

I dont think it is a bucket thing, I think they just block everyone but themselves from accessing CX inventory. I think it is a bit like QR blocking QF, I don't think WR has a special bucket just for QF redemptions it must be a block somewhere else. K might be wrong.

Is the alert for MNL-HKG on QF redemptions in particular? If so then I have no idea.
Yes. The alert was set for HKG-MNL via QFF for 3 pax in J.

CX fly the route 4x daily.

When the alert triggered no options showed on QF for 3 pax.

Two flights showed availability for 2 pax.

And the flight that triggered the alert didn’t even show for 1 pax.

When I looked at the EF fare buckets, the flight that triggered the alert had more seats in lower buckets than the others. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've just completed ticketing for a Oneworld Award. My tip for anyone looking to make their seat selections in advance is to try Sri Lankan Airlines. I tried most of the other carriers (including Cathay Pacific, Iberia, BA, Finnair, and of course Qantas) and they all either wouldn't allow seat selection for other carriers, or the system was broken (RJ showed all seats available and would not save selections).

The Sri Lankan site loaded easily and would happily take bookings for any carrier.

PS. I didn't even have any bookings with Sri Lankan so that is irrelevant.

If anyone is making changes to a OWA that was issued before the points devaluation I'd be interested to know if the change fee is still just 5000 points or if you have to pay the 'fare difference' as well to the new devalued price

The change fee is 5000 points

Hi, does anyone booked Emirates flight for OWA? I believe EK flights are now on OWA program.
I know the tax is expensive for Emirates, however total points needed should be the same??

Also, I heard that if you booked OWA prior to 5 Aug (with 318000 points), you need to pay the difference for the new OWA redemption (365800 points) when changing your itinerary on top of the change fee of 5000 points.
Is this true?

I tried it with my one world booking which does not have any Sri Lankan flights. After listing the flights, it does say that "Your flights are not eligible for online modification". However under the Value Added Services Section, when selecting British Airways flight, it says "Sorry, seatmap is not available". when selecting Japan Airlines flight, it loads the seatmap and after selecting the seat, and confirming, it says "Sorry, your seat selection couldn't be saved". Same result with China Airlines flight. Tried RJ but it says "Booking does not include any RJ flight".

Sorry to hear you had that experience, do you have Oneworld status? Its the only thing I can think of that might explain the difference, so would be a helpful disclaimer to others. I hope you get one of the other carriers to work

Not sure what is OneWorld status. I am only Qantas Bronze.

Hmmm… I just used Sri Lankan’s MB function for an upcoming AY award issued through QFFF. It worked! Gave me the AY seat maps and ability to change seats. I have OWR status, and no flights on UL.

Just adding this as a data point.

OW status would mean anything above base level… so qantas silver (oneworld ruby), qantas gold (oneworld sapphire) or qantas platinum (oneworld emerald)… or the equivalent tiers on any other oneworld airline .

OneWorld is the airline alliance that Qantas is a member of. Any status with Qantas also means you have that status with OneWorld. I only ask because some airlines restrict seating choices to those that have status - it sounds like this may be the problem based on @MEL_Traveller 's experience also
