Qantas Complimentary Lounge Pass Discussion

Quick call.

Message I got was phone the Qantas Frequent Flyer team 13 11 31. They need your frequent flyer number and booking reference for Jetstar, but can sort it out.
Thank you for that. Well Ive just spent over an hour and half on the phone. They eventually did transfer me to FF. Guy was helpful, although had to wait a lot when he checked things etc. A lot of back and forth. Evenutally he told me he would send me a pass to allow access on the day. The other linked one would be forwarded to team and told it would take a few days to unlink - so hope that happens!
So email sent was just a short note - starting with
Dear Airport Staff, Please consider this as a one off confirmation for accessing the Lounge for the below member:
and finished with
Please allow the member to enter the lounge as a one off as he tried linking it on the website but our system was down. Rest assured that we are fixing it on our end.
Well I thought he could tell I was a she (especially with my name?) and it says system down- although it was just the wrong date - so I really hope it works and they will accept that!???
However - looking on the qantas website I found this-
Un-link a Complimentary Lounge Invitation from a flight: if at any time before 24 hours of the departure of your eligible flight you wish you un-link the Complimentary Invitation from the selected flight, go to the Complimentary Lounge Invitations Portal and clicking 'CANCEL' next to the listed flight. The Complimentary Lounge Invitation will revert to unused status and provided it has not expired, can be linked to another eligible flight. If within 24 hours of departure you have changed or cancelled your flight, you'll won't be able to unlink an associated Complimentary Lounge Invitation. At its sole discretion, Qantas may reinstate the Complimentary Lounge Invitation to unused status under certain circumstances, providing that the Complimentary Lounge Invitation has not expired.
ps. my flight is not till 5th September.
But there was no cancel or unlink button there?? If there was - would have saved both of
us a lot of time and trouble.

Could be that the unlink functionality is solely for QF flight codes?

Anyways, that aside, I am very glad you got it resolved! Just mortified at how long you had to wait.

Edited to add: wasn't any trouble for me. Glad to have been able to skip the queue to at least try to get you the low-down on the right number/team. Back to lounging by the pool.

Were you in the 24hr time period? As "I then noticed that the date had automatically put todays date in -"
You would not have been the first person to do this

Apologies if this has been asked previously, I did scan!

Miss BD, SIL and their 3 kids are flying JQ and I'm looking to gift passes to them.

I know the two children (12 and 9) need passes - but what of a two year old infant? The Complimentary Lounge pass page only states all children must have their own pass ... but common sense tells me that an infant falls under the standard "n/a" category.

Supplementary question: does the requirement change if the infant is flying on a child's ticket (ie their own booked seat)??

Can anyone point me to a definitive statement on the QF website - I don't want this to become a discussion point at the Lounge entrance!

Regards,

BD

An infant would be fine and wouldn't need a pass.

In general airline terms (i.e. you pay) a child is someone above 2

so you have a child not an infant....

BUT a small 2 year old child shouldn't be an issue unless you have a REALLY horrible person on the desk.

Flying out in 6 days internationally and just realised that my lounge passes are for domestic only.

I got them from my amex rewards. I tried to call qantas and they said call amex. Amex said call qantas haha.

Has anyone had any luck with this? Also is there a thread to posts swaps? My passes expire 30th october

Are they labeled as DBL - Domestic Business Lounge or something? Those were only issued by QF iirc

Every pass I have had from Amex has been general so seems a bit confusing?

What does the pass actually say?

The pass says domestic. I'll attach a photo. I've had the american express business rewards for 2 years now and just realised domestic which is very annoying a si travelled domestic not long ago and would've used them then!

You may not be able to link any lounge passes due to school holidays.

It's very annoying. $500 yearly card. Other cards out there are $300 and get general passes
This is one of the few cards that massively boosts QBR tiers earns so its one of those pros and cons situation.

I think by default for any flight booked on it, you get more QBR tier points than tier 3 non QF AMEX.

I have searched endlessly and cannot find a clear answer about using single lounge passes out of Melbourne International terminal.

The user of the pass would be:
1. flying Cathay Pacific.
2. Traveling in economy.
2. Qantas bronze status.

I have a feeling it's a NO, but I cannot find a clear answer on QF website.

Many thanks
J

Here's the clear answer you're looking for from the Qantas website:

"A Complimentary Lounge Invitation is an invitation to enjoy the Qantas lounge before you fly, or gift to another Qantas Frequent Flyer. The invitation provides single-visit access to eligible Qantas-operated lounges when your next onward flight has a Qantas (QF) or Jetstar (JQ, 3K, GK) flight number."

So if you're flying Cathay Pacific you cannot use a Qantas lounge pass to access a Qantas lounge.

Does your Cathay Pacific flight have a code share QF number?

Sadly a no - has to be a QF flight number and Cathay only codeshare with Qantas out of perth from Australia.

They only codeshare out of Perth…
