I just saw on OZB that the Champagne Mile blog is promoting this offer, which isn't available by going to Amex directly or by referral.

Receive 100,000 bonus Qantas Points plus $200 back when you apply via TCM by 2 February 2021, are approved and spend $3,000 on your new card within the first 3 months (new Card Members only).

Qantas American Express Ultimate inclusions:
* 100,000 bonus Qantas Points
* $200 back to your Card
* $450 Qantas Travel Credit
* Earn up to 2.25 Qantas Points per $1 (uncapped)
* Complimentary Qantas Wine Premium Membership (valued at $99)
* Exclusive Amex entertainment and lifestyle offers
* Apple Pay and Google Pay compatible

Need to know:
* $450 annual fee
* Offer only available to Amex Partner link (that's us)
* New Card Members only. Spend criteria, T&Cs apply
* Apply by 2 Feb 2021

(There's also a separate offer for the mid-range Amex Qantas Premium Card - I've posted that as a separate thread).

This offer is also available at creditcardfinder.com.au

I recently applied for this via the QANTAS website, but that ended on Jan 4 and is now back to 55000 points. It is also 55000 on the Amex site. Nice to see the offer extended, even if via another sign up partner.

This is probably the best deal out there at the moment if you can spend the travel credit without too much hassle.

I did this same deal through Qantas in December. I hadn’t had a Qantas earning card for ages so qualified for the additional 20k bonus but for some reason got 30k. Not complaining! Haven’t hit the $3k spend yet so not sure how quick the 100k will come but Amex is generally pretty speedy.

Note from what I understand you have to spend the $450 credit in one transaction and it is non-refundable if you cancel.
With the $200 back on your card, you are potentially talking 100k in points and $450 in travel for just $250 expense. Outstanding. Plus IMO Amex is the best provider to deal with.

Yes, that’s correct. Minimum of $450 in one transaction that has to be for Qantas international or local flights - or you lose the rest. I can’t see how I’m going to spend it at this point but hopefully it will be possible by the end of the year.

I am planning a couple of interstate trips this year, but I almost always use points to do it (whereas I tend to pay for international flights). I will end up buying some domestic tickets instead. I might get $450 of flights in place of 4 x 8000 points and another $120 booking fees, assuming I can book 2 seperate return trips in one transaction. Not as good as a direct $450 saving on a fare in my case.

Hi,
Thinking of signing up for this card, adding my partner onto it as a supplementary and cancelling her other Amex to get the bonus points. However, we've booked flights for April on her existing Amex account via Amex Travel. Does anyone know what might happen if we need to amend those flights but the card / account has been cancelled?
Cheers
L

Not sure but you don’t need to cancel your partners card to get the bonus points. Supplementary cards aren’t considered for bonus points. Only real consideration is resetting her 18 month wait to apply again.

What piratematerial said.
Another thing to consider when cancelling or even downgrading cards is the credit card insurance that may apply to any upcoming trips and whether that will be lost.

Great point I hadn't thought of Rich - thank you! In this environment the insurance will come in handy...

My 100k points and $200 cashback are showing in the Amex app immediately after hitting $3k about a month in. Super pleased with this one.
Agree, this is arguably the best Ultimate Card sign-up deal since the 120k points offer a few years ago.

I just called up yesterday to cancel a flight (sale fare) booked with the $450 travel credit and Amex said it's fine - I can get the booking amount as a credit to use later, though Qantas' $99 change fee will apply and Amex also charges a $30 change fee.

Yes I had a similar experience. A covid enhancement perhaps.

How long unti the 200 credit appears? Just went through the first statement cycle and it hasn't come.

Mine (partner's) was 3 days after the $450 annual fee charge. The bonus points were also qualified for and awarded the same day as the annual charge (coincidentally?)

Trying to decide between this one and the QF Premier Platinum card.

What do you folks think?

It's a pity you've missed the $200 cash back, but I'd still say Amex for sure:
  • You still get a $450 travel credit to use on Qantas
  • 1.25 points per dollar vs. 1.0
  • You are dealing with Amex instead of Citibank (who provide Qantas cards)
  • Amex do have a few offers with your card, including the Shop Small campaign - the offers section on Qantas for me so far as been zero.
And if you need a referal link I'd love to supply you one :D -you will still get 100k points plus a bonus entry in a draw to win a trip to Hamilton Island
