I may call on Monday but again I will probably wait the 8-10 week and if they want to play games then, I'll go down over avenues!

Another avenue is to go straight up the ladder, avoid the CSR's.

It may take a few guesses to get the email addy right but here is some help!

American Express today announced the appointment of Mr Pierric Beckert as the new managing director of its Australian operations.

American Express - Wealthy Australians high on global stress list

Who's to know whether she is still at Amex, or barred from further contact by superiors on AFF, or she's sick, or on holidays, etc etc...whilst it may be disappointing to some, this is not the best forum for Amex to be contacting us...it should be one-on-one, either in writing or by telephone as many have done.

Problem is they haven't contacted most of us. The points were docked from my account with no explanation. No call and I am a Plat card holder. we have to contact them.

OK. This is same for me but Amex only removed 5,000 MR points of the 10,000 MR points I had earned to that stage.

To me this would suggest that we are indeed signed up for the 5t/5,000 MR points promotion. Capped/uncapped I have no idea. I am tempted not to call and just wait to see what will happen.

Is anyone else a little dissapointed that Luisa has not liaised with us further in this thread via admin?

Interesting that you have kept some points, while I have lost all of mine!

Capped/Uncapped - The T&C's keep me happy on that one

Disapointed that Luisa hasn't replied again - Yes
Expected her to reply again - No

On any forum official company respresentives have a hard time dealing with all the feedback and flack, this one wouldn't be much fun at all. EXCEPT if the situation was fully explained so we all knew what was going on. As it stands it's just a game of cat and mouse, waiting to see what happens next

This situation is beyond a joke, but what makes it even funnier is that once all this settles and we are uncapped (hopefully) we are going to all be using AMEX as much as possible and earning AMEX more $$$

Well, consider how many cardholders are probably in this promo and think of how few Amex staff there probably are - and I'll bet that some, if not alot, of their work to check this is manually based. so it will take them a while to check and contact those affected.

So you're Platinum - so am I (not that it matters) and I'll bet so are quite a few here and we all spend a lot through Amex...so WHAT??? Give them a chance to explain what they have done. People need to get off their self-appointed status-induced high horses round here ... and that comment is not specially targeted at you, nlagalle. You have some kudos from prior efforts...

Ah yes the friendly old timers at it again on here...

I'll wait for my promised call back by Friday 5pm that didn't happen (not related to this promo, but another example of poor customer service)
nlagalle will get his call on a Saturday...
file51 will read his letters of his work collegues saying they are capped when they enrolled prior to Sept 20 ....

Yep we must give Amex a chance......

Back to lurking I go then

I am not sure dissapointed is the right word.

I personally was amazed at her first post via the Admin...not because of her making it.But rather due to it's content.

Strategicaly her message while good for us....was very poor from actually protecting Amexe's interests. I would imagine that she would have had her but kicked severely over it's content.

At the time of her posting it she obviously had no undertstanding of what the real flaw in the promo was...and instead thought it was just that extra non-targetted people were getting in.

10000 points per day, and 100 Transactions per week

.......I expect 10,000 points a day basically to make up for all my transctions.

Heck this week I have put around 100 transctions on the card

Wow, 10000 points per day, and 100 Transactions per week... No wonder people get POCed

I don't think AMEX has in mind to give away 1M points to customers. And yes we all could be doing "Cough" legitimate transactions but anything above 100K a month is just not in their mind.

Think about it... they are wasting time and money trying to recover 5KP from one guy and 15KP from another. Amex is not looking into giving 10,000 points a day at all.

As I mentioned before, the largest points giveaway I have ever seen was from a bank and it was around 500K points. However it wasn't in one lot. To get 500K you needed to borrow over $700,000 and they gave about 20K points for every $100K you owed them at the end of every year. So, at the end of X years you would earn 500000 points.

I am afraid my friend that if you engage yourself in a quest to make 100 transactions per week you will end up making 100 calls per week asking Why did I lost all my points?

And maybe with a bill from a lawyer if you decide to ask for compensation.

So you are assuming that lovestotravel is doing something untoward/different from their normal spend. Their first posts in this thread indicated 200-300 transactions per month before the promo started so this would be consistent with what they were doing already.

At least you ddn't just post the T&Cs again.

@LindsayWilson Amex promote the Plat Chg card as a premium product with premium service - which is one of the reasons why people pay for it. At the moment I am not seeing that level of service.

I snipped sections out of your post. Hope it doesn't change your intent too much.

However I must also take exception to your post. Many people here, clearly including lovestotravel, have cause to buy things regularly through the day. If they transferred these purchases to Amex it can easily equate to 10 a day. I myself have done it frequently with no manipulation of the spends and I only have one supplementary card, my wife, so it is only 5 each a day.

This, after all, is the purpose of the promotion.

Your post was quite inappropriate.

you may not want to but I would call. I spoke to the MR team and clearly with the t and c's they confirmed I was on 5/5000, advised the poc was for having 2 signups for 24 hours and that all bonus points I was entitled to would be posted after another 6/8 weeks.

I got the name of the consultant, and with his agreement faxed back a record of the conversation confirming his comments I was unlimited, on the 5/5000 and would receive all points earnt. I also attached a copy of the t and c's to the fax.

Now that they have taken some action on your account, I definitely think it prudent to challenge it.

I'd like to speculate, so stop reading if you are only looking for facts.

"We will be reviewing all Cardmembers who registered multiple times and limiting their enrolment to the original offer, or the offer they would have been eligible for had they been invited to participate." This was from Luisa.

Seems logical that the first step in sorting all this out would be the multiple registrants. Decide which promo for each account. Then do an adjustment of points. It also seems logical there would be a set start and end date for those adjustments, unfortunately we don't know what that date is. The points remaining in the account would only be those earned before that date. At least there would be a line ruled at a common date for each account.

Next they could move on to other "single promo" accounts and work up to the same date.

It certainly looks like a lot of manual work is going on and that would explain the growing number of weeks quoted for allocation, 6, 8, now 10.

POC?

perhaps ...
  • Point OverCredit
  • Promotion OverCredit

I received 5K x 2 bonus points (one on the 18th and one on the 19th). Then it stopped.

I have not had any of this 10K reversed ...
