Cebu Pacific Delays/ Cancellations

5J41, the Friday 28 December 2320 hours MNL - SYD took off at 0045 on Saturday 29 so arrival is likely at 1129, 44 late for A333 RP-C3344,

Monday 7 January 2019 sees 5J40, the 1230 hours SYD - MNL with A333 RP-C3344 having taken off at 1316, so anticipated arrival is 1811, 46 late.

Tuesday 8th of Jan sees 5J49 MNL-MEL (A333 RP-C3341) airborne at 7 31, this suggests arrival at 17 48, 58 min behind schedule.

Tuesday 8th of Jan sees 5J49 MNL-MEL (A333 RP-C3341) airborne at 7 31, this suggests arrival at 17 48, 58 min behind schedule.

The return flight 5J50 has a timetabled departure of 1805 but pushed back at 1929 with estimated MNL arrival 0021 on Wednesday 9 January, 66 minutes behind schedule.

MNL airport used to be closed between 0130 - 0330 daily for runway maintenance.

However at present it is apparently closing at midnight. One problem with the 5J MEL - MNL thrice weekly schedule is that with 5J50 due into MNL at 2315, it has come very close to being diverted to CRK (or elsewhere) more than once. My source suggested MNL reopens at 0600 each morning but that doesn't appear correct as FR24 shows many flights arriving or departing at 0500 if not before.

On Thursday 10 January, 5J49 (0600 hours MNL down to MEL) is expected to depart an hour late as only the shorter runway 13/31 seems to be in use. This will cause severe delays.

UPDATE: 5J49 (RP-C3348) departed MNL at 0636 hours, so not quite as bad as expected, and was airborne at 0710 for a 1746 hours MEL arrival, 56 late.

On Thursday 10 January, 5J50, the 1805 hours MEL - MNL (A333 RP-C3348) took off at 1926, about an hour late but should just land in MNL prior to the present 0000 hours curfew. Timetable says arrival should be 2315 hours.

UPDATE: It arrived MNL at 0019 on Friday 11. Not sure if there is a SYD-style 'curfew dispensation' system: being southeast Asia, it's likely to be a lot less formal.

On Saturday 12 January 2019, 5J49, the 0600 hours MNL down to MEL did not become airborne until 0745. Arrival for A333 RP-C3341 is estimated as 1827 hours, 97 late.

Sunday 13 January's 5J41, the 2320 hours MNL down to SYD did not take off until Monday 14 at 0152. Arrival for RP-C3341 should be at 1235 this afternoon, 95 late.

A332 RP-C3346 on 5J49, the 0600 hours early morning MNL - MEL was in the sky at 0645, about 25 late with arrival at 1733, 43 late.

5J49, the 0600 MNL down to MEL (Saturday 26 January 2019, A333 RP-C3341) did not take off until 0704 hours so arrival is estimated as 1746, 56 late. This will delay returning flight 5J50 that is close to the MNL curfew of midnight.

One I missed previously - apologies - was that on Tuesday 12 February 2019, 5J49 (A333 RP-C3348), the 0600 hours MNL - MEL did not take off until 1413 hours, arriving at 0043 on 13 February, 473 minutes late. This reflects how MNL now has a curfew from midnight.

5J50 then took off from MEL at 0235 hours, arriving MNL at 0718 hours, 483 late.

On Saturday 2 March 2019, 5J49, the MNL - MEL day flight arrived at 1710 hours, 20 late with A333 RP-C3341 but the returning 5J50, the 1805 hours is expected to push back an hour late.

5J49 on Thursday 7 March 2019 was again late into MEL, arriving at 1721 hours, 35 late with RP-C3345 (A333).

On Thursday 14 March 2019, 5J49, the 0600 hours MNL - MEL (A333 RP-C3341) took off at 0835 as it had only arrived at 0601 (nine minutes early) on 5J187 from ICN. MEL arrival was at 1916 hours, 146 late.

It then took off northwards from MEL at 2134 compared to its ex gate timetable of 1805. MNL arrival should be 0218 on Friday 15, 183 late.

The ex-MNL 5J49 arrived MEL on Thursday 28 March 2019 with A333 RP-C3343 at 1722 hours in the late afternoon, 32 minutes late.

However the returning 5J50, the scheduled 1805 hours was still taxiing in MEL at 2145 in Melbourne so arrival will be at least 200 minutes late.

Previously I had thought (and jb747 had once commented) that MNL has a 'small hours' curfew between (at least) 0130 and 0330, and another pilot said to me it was from midnight, but that contradicts what one sees on FR24 with passenger flights arriving (in particular) during these hours. I've not been there for some time and in any case obtaining information in that city as to what's really happening can be an exercise in futility.

UPDATE: 5J50 was in the sky at 2149.

Wednesday 3 April saw 5J40, the 1220 hours SYD - MNL airborne at 1339, about 55 late, with A333 RP-C3345. Arrival should be 31 late at 1821 early this evening.

Wednesday 10 April's 5J40, the 1120 hours SYD up to MNL (A333 RP-C3345) took off at 1241 so arrival will be after 1820, at least half an hour late.

Saturday 5 May 2019 finds 5J49, the 0520 hours MNL down to MEL arriving at 1626, 36 minutes tardy as it did not take off until 0639 hours. RP-C3343 was then airborne at 1751 on the 1705 hours returning flight MEL to MNL (5J50, A333) with arrival expected half an hour late at 2345 late tonight.

A333 RP-C3348 on 5J49, the 0600 hours Tuesday 4 June MNL down to MEL arrived bang on time at 1550 hours, but the return 5J50 due to depart MEL at 1705 hours has been cancelled.

Was this an aircraft fault, a staff member going off sick or some other reason?

More than a day later, as at 2000 hours on Wednesday 5 June A333 RP-C3348 remains in MEL as far as I can determine.

Do any AFFers know what the problem was (and is)?
