Sunday 2 February 2020's 5J49 from MNL (the 1220 hours) to MEL is predicted to depart an hour late. 5J50 returning (the timetabled 0050 hours on Monday 3) will be delayed.

5J49, the 1220 hours Tuesday 4 February 2020 scheduled 1220 hours ex MNL for MEL was airborne at 1341 hours with RP-C3347 (A333.) Arrival should be about 0018 on Wednesday 5, 43 minutes late, in turn delaying the 0050 hours 5J50 redeye back to MNL.

On Sunday 15 March and Monday 16 respectively, 5J49 (1220 hours MNL down to MEL) and 5J50 (0050 hours returning to MNL) have been cancelled. I read somewhere that 5J has temporarily ceased its MEL thrice weekly flights. If so, it won't be the last to do so with today's announcement by the PM of a 14 day self-isolation period.

During coronavirus, a special repatriation flight for more than 300 Filipino seamen from MV 'Ruby Princess' operated on Thursday 23 April 2020. 5J42, the scheduled 1200 'high noon' SYD - MNL (A333 RP-C3343) instead was airborne at 1908 hours in the early evening. The controversial ship departed from Port Kembla somewhat earlier, possibly around 1700 hours late this afternoon, also bound for Manila.

The aircraft had arrived in SYD as 5J41 at 0607 early this morning.

While the virus remains a problem, infrequent or one-off flights by some airlines seem to spend 11 hours or so in the Australian port, presumably so crews can have minimum rest. It would be impractical and costly to have crews staying until the next flight (should there be one).

Apart from recently ferrying about nine of its aircraft (including two A333s) for stabling in Alice Springs during the pandemic, Cebu Pacific hasn't visited our shores for some weeks.

On Saturday 1 August 2020, 5J40, a proposed 1120 hours late morning SYD up to MNL was cancelled.

5J only returned to Oz this month and has a thrice weekly between MNL and SYD, and nothing to MEL yet, so both routes have a lesser frequency than pr4e-COVID-19.

On Tuesday 26 July 2022, 5J40, the 1120 hours SYD - MNL was airborne at 1242 hours, so arrival should be at 1845 early this evening, 55 minutes late. A333 RP-C9300 has the duty.

5J40, the 1120 hours SYD - MNL on Saturday 30 July 2022 was airborne at 1300 hours with RP-C3900 (A333), so arrival looks to be at 1845 hours, 55 minute slate.

On Thursday 4 August, 5J40 (A333 RP-C3902) was airborne at 1321 so expected ex-SYD MNL arrival becomes 1923 hours, 93 late.

Tuesday 6 September 2022 has 5J40, the 1120 hours SYD-MNL (A333 RP-C3902) taking off at 1208 for a suggested at gate arrival of 1821 hours in the early evening, 31 minutes behind the timetable.

Christmas Day 2022 sees 5J40, the scheduled 1225 hours SYD-MNL with A333 RP-C3902 not airborne until 1427. Predicted arrival becomes 1917 hours, 82 minutes tardy. This morning's 5J39 arrival had been a minute early at Sydney, so not sure why the outbound delay.

On Tuesday 10 January, 5J40 (A333 RPO-C3901, the 1225 hours lunchtime SYD-MNL) did not become airborne until 1440 hour. At gate MNL arrival has become 1923 hours, 88 minutes tardy.

Wednesday 11's 5J40 (A333 RP-C3901 again) took off from SYD at 1429 hours with mooted at gate arrival in MNL 1910 hours, 75 minutes behind.

Monday 1 May 2023 saw 5J39, the late night 2335 hours MNL down to SYD (A339 RP-C3903) not take off until 0247 hours on Tuesday 2, so arrival at gate should be about 1217 hours, 147 minutes late. In turn, 5J40 back to MNL (the 1120 hours) will be unable to push back prior to 1330.

A333 RP-C3906 on Tuesday 30 May 2023's %j39 (2320 hours redeye, MNL down to SYD) did not take off until 0554 on Wednesday 31, so SYD at gate arrival was 1522 mid afternoon, 322 minutes late. Returning to MNL, 5J40 was in the sky at 1748 for a 2343 hours gate arrival, 348 minutes behind schedule. It has then again run 5J39, taking off from MNL at 0149 this morning with arrival at its SYD gate shortly at 1117, 87 late.

A339 RP-C3906 is IIRC one of the super high seating capacity A330s in Cebu Pacific's fleet, not my idea of a heavenly trip.

Notwithstanding, 5J39, the 2320 hours Saturday 10 June 2023 MNL-SYD took off at 0218 so arrival at gate is predicted for 1145 hours, 115 minutes tardy. The return 5J40 is the 1120 hours, so it's unlikely to depart prior to 1315 this afternoon.

A339 RP-C3906 on 5J49, Sunday 11 June's 1955 hours redeye from MNL down to MEL took off at 2152, arriving on Monday 12 at 0709 hours, 44 minutes late. 5J50, the 0745 hours back to MNL had not taken off by 0853.

A339 RP-C3906 is operating 5J39, the 2320 hours Monday 19 June 2023 MNL-SYD that was in the sky on Tuesday 20 at 0118 hours. SYD arrival should be about 1056 hours, 66 minutes behind the timetable.

Thursday 29 June 2023 has seen 5J40 (A333 Rp-C3948, the 1120 hours SYD-MNL) not having taken off until 1525 mid afternoon, so arrival at gate becomes 2125 hours, 210 minutes late.
