Good to see he's finally got a monkey off his back (gets a 50) but there is stil a lot of work to be done:

65.6
4 runs
Ashwin to Marsh, FOUR runs, short and punished! What a way to get to his half-century. Marsh picks the length early and whips this into the gap between midwicket and mid-on, lovely stroke. Applause from the crowd and Marsh deserves it, superb innings so far under pressure. His first in 2018.

And I think that is the issue people have with Marsh. No one doubts that when he gets set he generally performs, this however is always few and far between.

In saying that, he's got a good record here in Australia so he'll probably have a good series - in England (as with our other batsmen) he'll be a bunny.

The Australian fingernails are losing their grip...

72.1
Wicket
Bumrah to Marsh, OUT, caught behind! The big breakthrough! What a delivery. Perfect length, angled in forcing Marsh to defend from the crease, it just nipped away a touch, he just got the faintest of edges pushing at it, and it goes through to Pant! He's given out. Marsh and Paine have a chat but he knows he touched it. There's the smallest of hot spots. Marsh is on his way
SE Marsh c †Pant b Bumrah 60 (166b 5x4 0x6) SR: 36.14

coughmins being tested but DRS tells the truth:

73.3
Ashwin to coughmins, no run, A review for caught behind! Given not out by Nigel Llong. It pitched in the rough and ripped back, he tried to drive and it goes between bat and pad to Pant. Hot spot and snicko show nothing. Clearly not out. Decision stands. India lose a review

73.6
Ashwin to coughmins, no run, given out caught at short leg! coughmins reviews. This missed the footmark, he thrust pad and bat at it it came off pad bounced up and went to short leg. It bounced off the flap of the pad and maybe onto the wrist. There's nothing on the hot spot in terms of a spot on the glove. Snicko not helping the third umpire either. Third umpire recommends the decision is Not Out and overturned due to nothing on snicko or hot spot! coughmins survives.

The "my husband played 14 first-class matches so I'm cricket royalty" schtick is getting *old*.

I bonked an All Black once, doesn't mean I know anything about rugby.
I don’t think your comments add anything to the discussion at all and really could be construed as a personal attack IMO.

Every game needs a crowd....

Well S Marsh maintained his got going average. 60

Half way there now but a big ask when 6 wickets down

Such a pity that I was in ADL on Thursday and couldn't catch up with either the cricket or @Pushka. Closest I got was walking down to the Ground and getting a photo. That was probably crazy, given it was 39 deg. I also got 3 Ubers for the day, all Indian drivers who appreciated the chat about the cricket.

Well, we have as much opportunity to win as the Indians. Heard Langer be interviewed about 30 mins ago. He mentioned that Marsh is a nervous starter, but if he gets past 10 his Test average is in the 60's. Okay, he'd better live up to that today and more, as I think he's playing for his spot in the side. He said that the team needs heroes like in UAE.

Head knows how to bat as does Paine, Lyon and Starc. With a day to bat, we need to go out there with a mindset to gt the runs. Wait for the bad ball and punish. Batting should be easier as only the rough at the Northern End looks like it will affect the batsmen.

Will be watching the cricinfo scoreboard (then have a Xmas function starting at midday). Damn, should ave cancelled.

Quite badly planned I thought!

Well Pushka as a wicket keeper and number 11 batsman I object.First several joints in hands at odd angles and I have a knee replacement.I was number 11 because I couldn't score runs. However if our team was sent back in as our opponents were going for the outright I was sent in as an opener. This happened several times and I was usually still there when the match was called off.In 2 of those innings I was facing a former NSW Sheffield Shield bowler.
So with that background and having watched that bit of the match I feel that the Indian lower order batsmen did not perform as they should. If they were up against a half decent batting side it opened up a chance for a victory to Australia.Fortunately for them it isn't a half decent batting side. The shot selection of some of the Aussies has been woeful.

And just as an aside when I took over as captain/coach of our junior team I often handed over the gloves so I could have a couple of overs. My son found that terrible as in a Staff/Parent and son match at boarding school I got the Headmaster caught and bowled.

Ah but you are a living legend Drron!

I think keepers have the toughest gig. More than anyone else. Their fingers must end up a mess. As for squatting for hours - Yikes. And have to concentrate on every single ball!

Seriously JohnK you don’t really understand the toll on the lower order members.
Why go out with 11 batters? Why not stop at 6 batsmen? The tail should be able to bat a little. They should be able to hang around when needed but I think there was a little arrogance in their approach yesterday.

Losing 5/25 and in the process losing 4/4 was a piss poor effort. I can sense an upset here. If India loses the unloseable match it was that little batting effort that's to blame. Nothing else.

Maybe they pinned too much on the history of Aus batting in the final innings. Time will tell.

There has been one man that has made the difference in this game, Pujara. There's been a lot of starts by both Indian & Australian batsmen, but he has been the only one who has gone on with his start and made a big score.

It’s certainly possible and would give them immense hope.
Target under 100 with plenty of overs remaining. At some point India will start to panic if not already panicking now.

With 70 runs and 2 wickets, I’m still backing the bowling team.

It’s a tough ask to ask the final three to bat way above their averages when those paid to bat couldn’t.

They are certainly giving it a red hot go though.

Missed a couple of wickets whilst at lunch - as well as coughmins getting out between turning my car off and walking back into my office.

Wicket
Bumrah to coughmins, OUT, edged and taken at first slip. Kohli with a straightforward offering. He saw the width, couldn't hold back and looked to flay that behind point, but this one may have just got stuck on the pitch, got to him later than he expected and simply lobbed to the slips. Kohli roars, releases the pent-up frustration, India now just one wicket away. Valiant effort from coughmins
PJ coughmins c Kohli b Bumrah 28 (121b 3x4 0x6) SR: 23.14

9/259. We're going to fall agonisingly close - 63 runs to go now.

Hazlewood was 10* against South Africa at Adelaide a month ago. We know Lyon can bat. Can they have the Test Match?
