lol, just went to select seat for flight from SYD to BNE later this week and row 4 is available for selection ... click on it and I am asked to pay 20 bucks ... WP level.

What is this BS? When did it start?

Soon we'll have to pay for J and F seat selection...

Interesting, row 4 was not available to me for a flight (MEL-ADL) last week until T-80, and then there was no charge.

$20 for exit rows though :(

I just made a booking about 5 minutes ago and all row 4 and 5 were unavailable as WP. Could be a CL/WP heavy flight I guess.

Qantas’ value proposition continues to deteriorate... compare this with FREE EconomyX for Plats in first three rows of Economy - has to be a strong reason for me to choose QF over VA for domestic travel these days...

Seat selection has known to glitch before asking for payment where none is required or not asking for payment where it is required.

Doesn’t surprise me if it is a glitch

Rows 4 and 5 on a 737 and 717 should only be available to CLs and P1s until T-80. Haven't heard of these being offered for $20 before. Agree it's probably a glitch.

This was my experience last week, could not get further forward than row 6 until T-80 when 4/5 opened up.

I wasn't aware of row 4 now being subject to payment or not available for WP. Perhaps give a call to QF centre? would be interesting to get the "official" story around this.

That's normal for WP if >T80. Same for row 1. Try at T80 and rows 4-5 should open up for WP (or row 1 if in J).

Been like this for a while now. Only CL and P1 can select any non-bassinet seat at any time in the cabin they’re seated.

interesting. glitch in the matrix then perhaps ... for now at least.

eh just wait till T-80 and select row 4. I have a PS work colleague does it all the time (annoys the WP's I bet lol)

As a WP I was able to select row 4 at time of booking (3 weeks ahead), one caveat is that it was a SYD ZQN flight.

International has generally been different for seat selection when compared to domestic. It is getting harder though and may now be just the 73H flights.

The row 4 selection is certainly one good thing about seating on the Trans Tasman flights. Row 1 is also available at time of booking for J.
Not if you are a P1 and beaten to Row 1 or 4 by a minion WP !!

I'm usually able to snare an A330 across the ditch (or fly SQ or LAN!) so the 737 'glitch' doesn't affect me. But yep, it's a good benefit for WPs. Presumably applies to other 737 international services?
