is anyone aware of any querks to booking that allow for better earn eg Nth Sth VS E - W starting from LAX! In mid July I need to stay 2-3 days at BUF + SAT and 4-5 days HNL .

Could you provide dates and the exact itinerary and where you need to be?

I am back in LAX late evening on 14Jul so was looking on aa for flights from 2300h or so out to hnl and I found lie flat seats on dfw flights so wasn't sure if it is better to go buf sat hnl. Nothing I can find seems $ value in F.

What order do you need to go to your destinations in? Or is it whenever?

I don't need use flights In any particular order so I've been trying without success to find the trick to booking in line

For your routing, there probably isn't a "trick". Doesn't look like there's a lot of cheap first fares for that routing. This is as good as I can find whilst still maximising segments:

I did the SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD run on Monday, and can confirm that the same plane operated both QF970 and QF971, so the 35 minute connection time works fine in practice.

Interestingly, the cabin crew were different on the two flights, though the CSM on the return flight saw me get off the plane and put me on the spot about it (in a friendly, jovial way) - status runs were nothing new to him, and he actually thanked me for supporting Qantas :)

I went ahead and booked two one-ways - my flights are in the first week of the sale (travel) period, so I can report back on the same-plane turnaround in TSV.

I am becoming an avid google flights user because it links me to the aa booking page when ready - something I learnt from this forum
- I found the down side has been the difficulty in transposing the matrix flights into aa or google flights
am I right in thinking that script would do it? although I am terrified of attempting it!

Yet again that five SC defeciency will be a thorn in my side. I'd hope to never say this but perhaps time to consider a Jetstar day trip from MEL. Boo

Just booked myself my first ever status run for a bit of fun and the cheapish flights were tempting.
I booked (MEL > (SYD) > xMEL > LST > xMEL > (SYD) > MEL) all on the same day, $408 for 60 SC.

Keep your BP's - you will likely find issues with crediting when you travel on the same segment more than once in the same day.

Yes, the script will do it and make the flights bookable. Usually by booking direct with American or with Orbitz.

MEL > SYD > OOL (Both legs in J) OOL > SYD > MEL (in discount Y) for $858/100C.

Not great, but...not awful?

(Edit: MEL > OOL > MEL in flexY for $537/60C which works out slightly worse $/SC)

I think you could do MEL-BNE-CNS in Flex Y for similar/lower price and more SCs (120).

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Or for the slightly more insane of you, November has some good routing for HNL-PTY, and this weekend is quite cheap due to Thanksgiving.

14 segments
1040 SC's
$1.80 AUD per:

Does require 6 overnight stays though.

Hi I am in HNL in November and looking to do a SC run staying at the destination for a few days break and then return to HNL...I don't seem to be able to replicate the above on AA or Matrix/Google Flights as more than 6 flights...I am doing something wrong ? will need about 650 SC's TIA
