Mouldy food being served in the SYD F lounge

If that were true then doctors would prescribe alcohol with antibiotics?

The main reason doctors tell you not to drink alcohol with antibiotics is that it makes you more likely to forget to take them

The exception is metronidazole that does make you feel unwell if you mix with booze

That makes everything taste awful - very metallic taste in your mouth and you can almost feel the war it is waging on the tummy bug!

I have never had bread go mouldy within a few days. Maybe it is full of preservatives. Warm dough that is stored and then cooked on a different day might be the problem.

Posting a response from the social media team in Auckland doesn't mean anything was done. I note that no followup requests from the OP were made.

Personal offence aside, I’d like to clarify:

- I’m not based in Auckland, today or any other day. Nor is the whole Social Media team
- This example was immediately escalated to the most senior operational management at Qantas, Rockpool and Accor

As you would expect, these matters are taken extremely seriously. Something was indeed done, and in real time.

A thorough review of processes and delivery of this otherwise exceptional customer experience has already seen some changes.

While I sincerely appreciate your concerns (I fully agree there’s no excuse for mouldy bread), further follow up is between Qantas and the OP.

I love gourmet burgers. Enjoyed one for breakfast in July. Will try another the next time I am in the First lounge which sadly is just a long way off.

I find it amusing in a way the association or stereotype that people in a F lounge (or F pax - of course these are not the same groups) wouldn't eat "common" (sorry, don't know how else to express the idea) food. Not everything has to be fancy, rare or exostic stuff. Sure, I've enjoyed Shark Fin soup in F, Caviar and some sensational meals in F lounges around the world, but there are times when one wants the old standby or comfort food as much as the next person.

Besides it suggests that those in a F lounge are all of a certain "type" and that's not fair to anyone. Stereotypes aren't very helpful. I love flying F, but I don't see myself as the sterotypical "caviar set" - people are people. I don't see myself as any "better" than anyone else just cuz I'm in F. I adore it, and it's a really wonderful way to travel, but I still like fish and chips at the pub on a Friday and a beer while watching the footy :)

(just an aside, but thought I'd put my 2 cents in since everyone else was)

note: I've never had a burger in a QF F lounge, but have enjoyed magnificent crispy duck, the S&P squid and various other treats :)

I personally would have toasted the bread first.
I even toast fresh store bought bread at home before eating it.
Still not an excuse fir what happened to the OP though.
Would it happen in the CL?

Was in the F Lounge back in June and was served raw eggs which was a concern. One mouthful only, that can make you very sick indeed. Was promptly returned but it does make you ask the question is this the tip of the iceberg?

I'm pretty sure the International F lounge is used as the CL, but could be wrong there.

So Pooch are you re-evaluating your desire for your Flounge experience? :D

Chesty, not arguing with your experience, but what is a "raw" egg? In many dishes I love very runny eggs. I know the health experts will tell you that is bad, but I still love them that way. :)

It happens now and then.

Back in 2008 I was served a dodgy Salt'n Pepper squid in the SYD First lounge - took one bite, spat it out and sent the smelly thing back - apologies were profuse.

Since then in scores of visits to MEL & SYD but I have never been able to bring myself to order it again.

Have you tasted the burger? It's actually quite nice (if you avoid the mouldy bits! )

The F lounge burger is my favorite burger and the best tasting burger I've ever had anywhere. Every time I have been in either the MEL F or SYD F when it has been served, I've ordered it. And I live in Texas now, I know my burgers :D.

I don't think there's a time I've been to the FL and (when available on the menu) not ordered the S&PS.

Life is pretty grand with this pleb (secret) bacon and egg brioche for breakfast, washed down with a nice blush champagne.

Totally digging the new you, Red Roo. Off with the gloves.

From my perspective I'm surprised this thread has got as long as this. Yep, poor form having a piece of mouldy food. But, so far at least, it's a one-off and we're told it's being addressed.

looks like the fish burger has been enhanced - i seem to recall it being more substantial with the pink ginger etc before. this looks like a bad mcdonald's effort (with mould aside).

That "fish burger" looks awful, even without the mould. I, too, recall something that looked much more impressive, and appetising.
