Vinomofo Wine Deals

Has anyone tried the Pertaringa Rifle & Hunt cab sav? It was a black market deal last week and is in the red flight pack. I missed out on it deciding between that and the Capel Vale and now I feel remorse, but perhaps its only because I love the look of the bottle...

Has anyone tried 3 Oceans The Explorers Chardonnay 2012 by chance?

had the younger sister 2013 on Friday night....after a big lunch, but there is no doubting the quality on offer here. The trophy winning one you are referring to was $17.50, and this 2013 was $10.50. I would now really like to try the '12 but this review is of the younger version, the '13. The use of French oak gives it an obvious woody note but adds to the intrigue. Fantastic fruit present, nice and clean, lovely palate length. A definite class act. This year I have found that many of my whites were chilled too much. This one , like many others, really evolved and became fuller flavoured when the temperature rose. This allowed all its qualities to come thru, not dulled by the anaesthetic effect of the cold wine. The only negative I have of it, and this is my only bottle, is that it dips a little at the end palate. My preference in wine is a body of about 7.5 and interestingly, this wine dips a tad. Call me ultra finicky, but you have to be. Nevertheless, this is an extremely well made wine, a bargain, and an obvious new world style. the 3oceans shiraz was supurb, so is this, and I await my cab sauv 2012. Three of them on a table will be an impressive dinner.

Hey, is anyone else getting the $@#% with VM with the very slow delivery of wines bought? Seems they are taking longer and longer to deliver wines. When they started, delivery was within a few days, now it sometimes takes weeks!

Might have to get some of the Seppelt Chalambar. $17.90 is pretty standard but it's a tasty drop, I'd be ok with a case of that sitting around :)

This has been my experience as well. Australia Post was much more efficient and convenient when they used them.

It scores very highly every year. Get a case and look at again in 2025. Im sure you wont be disappointed.

My deliveries to Tas are slow however they come, but I much prefer VM's delivery method to that of Australia Post.

For sure. It's a shame VM don't offer free delivery on dozens as it doesn't make much sense to buy from them in a lot of cases (plus you're free to mix and match elsewhere). Still, they do occasionally come up with a hard to beat deal so it's worth having them on the checklist for sure.

Got a dozen when it was on offer a few weeks ago. I was going to use it at a wedding, but it has corks rather than screw caps (Keep things simple). So I have been quietly trying the odd bottle. Very enjoyable, good structure and length and worth the price - $16 at the time

I often don't get the dispatch email till several days after purchase which makes me think they are a bit slow at the warehouse getting the wine out the door. Could be the wine is getting out but the admin a bit slow to catch up. With wine particularly being in QLD the less time sitting on pallets the better. I believe a lot of AusPost distribution centres are air conditioned so from my perspective AusPost is better for the provenance of the wine.

Delivery is $9 flat rate for most people. Would 66 cents a bottle really make that much difference to your buying decision? Where else offers the sort of sharp pricing VM does?

I'm guessing that more and mote stuff is being held at wineries and then the quantity required is shipped to VM before being shipper to us. If VM's growth is as speculated then they'd be needing to double their warehouse space every 6-12 months

Winestar are pretty damn competetive, and free delivery on dozens. For example, the Seppelt is $223.80 on VM delivered and $215.88 on WS delivered. 8 bucks is 8 bucks :D I know it's only 66c a bottle, but why pay more when you don't have to? Plus if I don't want 12 I can just take however many I want and add something else to make up the 12.

I'm not bagging VM, I think they're great, and they're "style" is particularly attractive, but I'm not about to spend more if I don't have to.

Other than the Chalambar, and other odd label here or there, is there much overlap between Winestar and VM? I don't think VM's goign to change their whole business model just because WInestar's 8 bucks cheaper on Chalambar :)

That said, nothing's really free - someone's paying for the delivery somewhere along the line - either you are (by having it built into the price), or other people are subsidising you. Winestar's refund policy doesn't seem as generous as VMs either. But if you are happy with Winestar, why not just buy from them, rather than asking VM to match it?

Well luckily I have the choice ;) If a deal comes out on VM, I generally check WS and buy from whichever saves me money. And they overlap quite a bit, I guess the wine on offer is on offer for a reason, and it's spread out among several retailers.

To be honest, I think you should continue to buy from Winestar - reward the retailers that you think are giving you best value.

Well, I'll reward the retailer that IS giving me the best value at the time. There are many options, I don't have to be locked into one.
Even after spending thirty grand with VM, Hyland still doesn't get a Christmas card from Andre. What he has got is incredible wine the likes of which would have cost him at least forty eight and a half thousand dollars, and a refund policy second to none. He has received delivery to a long, long, long way away and a lot of this has been free. You guessed it, I am bloody jealous of him !

Thats my cue. I am a fan of Vinomofo and very happy with my cellar which has over 500 of their bottles left in it. (VM is approx 70% of cellar) (the local tip has a lot more of their empty bottles in it) Sometimes I have a gripe but its usually my own fault for being too impulsive or not putting in the hard yards in researching the wines. It can be quite addictive, like we all get given a rubics cube and the first one to crack it wins. The return policy is a big winner with me especially if buying a dozen. I love the thrill of the chase in working out the wines. Here's a few tips. Put https://vinomofo.com/feed in your rss reader and as soon as a wine appears it shows up in RSS even if backgrounded on their website. Also if you scroll down a wines description to the second price banner the current status shows up there way before the main banner (selling fast, almost gone etc) sometimes hours before (in case you are holding back waiting for free delivery or coupon but don't want to miss out). also I do a daily VM search of their activity over 24 hrs on google for hints in AU only to filter a bit. https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=vinomofo&cr=countryAU&tbs=ctr:countryAU,qdr:d ,thats where I also see if there in any new activity on this forum as it shows up in the search. I like the vibe of this forum as theres not too much agro but people genuinely wanting to help each other grab good wine at good prices. Before Vm for me it was a 3 hour drive to Dan Murphys tied in with other appointments at the coast and with dubious provenance. The biggest plus is I have tried different wines I would probably never have tried and it has opened up a whole lot of enjoyment for my wife and I. So thanks to VM and to this forum. One of my favourite pastimes is watching my Cattle calving and my Sheep lambing from my verandah with the binoculars and each time there is a newborn I crack open the good stuff. I have had 1 calf and 7 lambs recently so its been an indulgent few weeks. I am seriously considering buying more land and expanding the herd.
