The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Im in the same boat.

I need 100 sc to make gold before the 13 December. We have got the dates (24 to 26 October) but not the destination. Departing from Sydney I was thinking of spending the weekend in Perth or maybe Christchurch but would consider anything really.

Also waiting on this afternoons happy hour sale.

Suggestions?

Looking at those dates
Route via bris or melb to CHC - $1000-1200 for 2 people (you say we?) on saver lites will net 120SC if u detour on both legs
simalir prices to perth via melb same earn,
So not great sc to $ ($10/per sc but if you want to go to those two places)
Carins via bris 1k (100sc) also

Hey guys so im 50SC short of gold, a family member just happen to book a trip BNE-SYD-CBR then CBR-MEL-BNE, which i believe is all "E" which will net me 45SC from pooling, now the question is will they be likley to comp me the 5 SC? Or can i upgrade one of her legs to bussiness with points? (im only silver atm?) or do a bid upgrade? does that net extra SC's?

FWIW, I just got comped from 990 to plat a few days ago after a large trip

But, it also looks like I'm missing 60 SC from some delta flights. I'll be happy if they apply AFTER the review :)

G'day guys

Needed 80 SC in the next month to re-qualify.

Ex Syd. (in a perfect world, cheapest and quickest hehehe (although can do layover in PER if that is cost effective)

I have a free domestic return flight (does not earn SC) (from Sydney to nearby cities (not west coast) so that might possibly give a few options??

Will be awarding 10 Karma tokens ! :p

MEL-xSYD-OOL return (or VV) in Flexi for around $500 earns 80 SC's.

You need to position to your start point.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

VA don't count down with flown eligible sectors towards higher status, they only count down the eligibility to retain current status. I had the same concern in my first year of VA membership. You'll enjoy Gold so much, you'll do almost anything to not go back to Silver or Red again....and try to attain Plat instead.

To quote from Velocity website:

For example, my Plat account shows:

Status Credits earned since 07 Feb 2014[SUP]1[/SUP]

Additional Status Credits required to maintain Platinum by 07 Feb 2015

Additional sectors required to maintain Platinum by 07 Feb 2015[SUP]2[/SUP]

The additional sectors started at 8 and I have had 4 flights since my Review date

I may be cross-eyed but I FINALLY FOUND THE ANSWER - THANK YOUUUUUU !!!!!

I'm chasing 40 SCs to make platinum before Christmas. Ideally I'd do two weekends away – one to CBR, one to SYD, but not enough time.

It'll probably just be a day trip... considering MEL-SYD-OOL-SYD-MEL which does the job for around $350. Do you think I can do any better than this? At least it's a good chance to tick the OOL lounge off my domestic bucket list.

Will pay closer attention to Happy Hour this week.

I do not think you will do better than that. MEL-PER-MEL prices are much higher for saver R/T which would also yield you the 40 SCs needed, Cheers, PJ

Don't rely on any sales offered during happy hour. The last few weeks I have noticed that the travel dates are for April-June 2015 so fairly useless for bookings in 2014.

The route you have planned is one of the most cost-effective SC runs and you get to enjoy the three best VA lounges at the same time.

Rely on this code for savings (assuming flights are being booked for 20+ days), rather than the Happy Hour fares:

NPX47

10% of all fares - flights must be 20 days in advance - book by 31st Dec - travel by 30 June 15.

This is great, thank you QF WP.

I wish I could do a multi-city booking and give myself a long lunch in SYD, and dinner in CBR. Status run + friend catch ups in one hit. I guess I'd have to ring to make that happen.

I don't know whether this has been covered elsewhere, but VA seems to have 'enhanced' its fares, particularly connecting fares and particularly flexi fares. Seems to have happened recently and under the radar. :( Some previously good SC rates now > $10 per SC. Anyone else notice this?

So I finally hit silver today. Just wondering how long Virgin take to acknowledge this? Ie when it will show up on my account and when I'll get my card/tags etc

Nooo! I'll have to check this out. I was hoping to do a OOL - MEL - PER run next year with a mate and use a comp upgrade
