This was the year I turned 40 and I aimed to set a personal record in terms of quantity and quality of travel. Not a single regret ! It was truly the best year of my life thus far
Total flight distance: 232,376km

Longest flight: DFW-MEL 14,475km (17hrs 56min)
Total aircraft types: 16 (51% airbus)
Most flown aircraft: A380 (5x)
Newest aircraft: 1 year (IB A320neo)

Dislikes: OW codeshares on Iberia metal seat selection is near impossible. The Private Room in Singapore was a tad underwhelming during anniversary time. My first time in ZRH and the prices for anything was astronomical and exceeded even my high expectations (e.g., 12 Swiss francs for a small bag of ice cubes at the supermarket, AU$50 for a bowl of ramen)
Likes: ANDALUCÍA, first and foremost (Granada, Sevilla, Málaga, Torremolinos, Frigiliana, Nerja, Córdoba - all far exceeded my expectations). San Seb/Bilbao & Valencia also honorable mentions - Spain really is a traveller’s paradise, the diversity ! Also, Spanish high-speed rail (Ouigo Spain was a total revelation, cheap, cheerful and as fast as the mainliners thanks to being double decker). My first SQ F, drank about 6 bottles of Krug over 27 hours, the food onboard was exquisite. Renovated LGA airport was a total revelation and my airport of the year, along with the Chase Sapphire lounge that can be accessed using PP. Arlo Williamsburg !!! Rooftop pool 'free' for guests (there is an exorbitant resort fee though) and overlooks the whole of NYC!!! Got 2 Y to PY op-ups as a lowly QF SG, I declined the westbound transatlantic AA as it was a middle seat and I am a staunch aisle person, IB MAD-NRT, however, I was notified of a complimentary upgrade to PY in the lounge to an aisle emex PY seat for such a long flight - IB has secured my loyalty for eurotrips next year solely from this win! It made a world of difference, the recline was so generous on the a350 it almost felt like an angled lie flat seat together with the legrest…
Intercity trains: 21 (19 high-speed; 11 Renfe, 5 DB/SBB, 2 Ouigo Spain, 1 Iryo Spain, 1 Amtrak, 1 local commuter Basque region)
Marriott Bonvoy: 113 nights, totalling US$19,442 so close but no Ambassador!)
