Qantas Delays/Cancellations

And now it has been put back to 1845! This is going way beyond the pale...I am going to get my pound of flesh for this.
...and the predictable finale: QF1257 has been cancelled (engineers decided that the a/c has done a few too many heavy landings). So I am now on QF615 tomorrow morning and having a night in a quite nice hotel in central Brisbane (they offered me a Y seat in a very late flight tonight but I graciously declined). I must say that I have more hassles today than in all my decades of air travel combined!

Noticed the aircraft (X4H) was briefly scheduled to return to service operating QF1275 (not QF1257) in the morning but this has since been swapped out

30 Oct. QF675 MEL-ADL. Currently onboard. Gates closed. As per captain, advise from ATC - Engine turn on and push back from gate delayed by 20 mins approx due to low clouds.

Edit: QF app has updated to say “Departed” but nah, we still on ground, at gate.

I arrived at domestic (from international) at about 830am, and finally left at about 6pm; over 9 hours! I managed to get a spot on the 7am QF613 next morning, which got me back to MEL at 1030am, only about 21 hours late!
Perfect example of why we need EU261 / UK261 legislation here. Are you listening Catherine King?

Absolutely- there’s something also to be said for not allowing rolling mechanical delays, particularly for a trunk domestic route which have lots of rebooking options, had they cancelled after 1 hour I’m sure all pax could have been rebooked that day on other flights.

International/ low frequency routes is obviously a different story.

Also on Thursday 29 October, QF7, the often tardy 1305 hours SYD to long distant DFW is expected to push back at 1700 hours. Aircraft is A388 VH_OQH that arrived SYD at gate at 1454 hours, 24 late as QF64 ex JNB.

QFi must be an A380 short as again, it's not normal for a scheduled 1430 hours arrival to form a 1305 hours departure.

QF7 was airborne at 1736 hours, so same day DFW gate arrival should be about 1632 hours, 242 minutes late.

On Friday 30 October, QF127, the 1115 hours SYD-HKG (A333 VH-QPA, class leader) took off at 1239. Expected gate arrival becomes 1835 hours, 45 minutes late.

Sister -QPB is on QF29, the 1105 MEL-HKG airborne at 1228. It should arrive at gate at about 1815, 40 late.

B789 VH-ZNG on the LHR down to PER QF10 is arriving at 1250, 35 behind, making it challenging for the 1400 hours second sector to MEL to punctually depart. In turn this may delay the 2245 hours QF93 from MEL to LAX that with the recent timetable changes is usually the same B787-900.

Let’s see those HKG flights - hope limited delays in the return - been pretty good lately tbh

The return flights from HKG - BOTH delayed

128 to SYD on QPB - took off at 2041 instead of 1925 - ETA is 0833 instead of 0755

30 to MEL on QPA - took of at 2104 -90 mins late from 1930, ETA is 44 mins late at 0844 instead of 0800

On Saturday 31 October, A388 VH-OQH on QF7, the 1305 hours SYD-DFW, is expected to depart 90 minutes late at 1435 hours mid afternoon. If this is reality, it should mean a gate arrival in Dallas-Fort Worth about 45-55 minutes late based on recent flights.

30 Oct QF10 cancelled. As aircraft flies LHR-PER-MEL-LAX-MEL, QF93/94 on 31 Oct are also cancelled.

Saturday 31's QF219, the mid afternoon 1615 hours PER-SIN and later on to LHR has also been cancelled. FR24 suggests this was meant to be operated by B789 VH-ZND that arrived in MEL this morning at 0951 hours, 21 minutes late as QF94 from LAX. The MEL to PER QF773 that is usually the B789 that later goes to Singapore and London is being operated by B738 VH-VXG with arrival in the WA capital at gate estimated at 1458 hours local time, 28 minutes late.

This would be disappointing for anyone who'd booked hoping for a widebody across the Nullarbor/Great Australian Bight. Most flights operated by QFd and all VAd's ones on this MEL-PER route are Boeing 737-800s with only recliner seats in J, not lie flat beds as on the Boeing 787-900s.

If any AFFers have been booked on these cancelled QF219s or QF10s between Perth and London or vice versa, please let us know what alternative flight(s) (if any) you were rebooked on and whether an hotel was provided (if so, which one?)

Seems intl ops are particularly bad lately
Might be shorter to list the flights not delayed or cancelled
