Would you fly in a plane with no windows?

Everyone talks about safety and cost as being two of the most important factors for air travel.

Cost of air travel is mainly determined by weight, fuel use and cost of the plane.

I would have thought that a plane made with no windows (except for the coughpit) would have been easier and cheaper to make, would weigh less (less re-enforcement of weak points around the windows) and safer, due to increase wall strength and reduction of componentry used to manufacture the aircraft.

So would the general public be happy to flying in a cabin with no windows?

I personally wouldn't want to, I don't even like the aisle or middle seats because it's harder to see outside!

After being seated in 9A on a QF737 yesterday with no window, I can say clearly...NO! I hated it. I virtually never fly without a window seat, I much prefer it!

I'd have a go in a C17 or C5 but I would prefer to have windows for everyday flying.

I reckon that with the new flexible screen technology a fake window could be installed and video feeds to give the impression of a view

I learnt to be wary of this after getting stuck in 7F on one of the old 734s.

I'd almost be happy with that, esp if they are "massive" windows aka the size you'd get on a train type size... It would be a little off putting that the perspective didn't change as your head moved around.

Safer in a crash with no windows? How? Stronger fuselage but unable to see if you need a life jacket or know if fire is present on one side?

I wouldn't have an issue with it as long as the pilot had a window and there were tiny windows on the exit doors.

I like the idea of no windows sometimes so you sleep against the window and the sun is not hot on the window shade.

I would not like it when there is nothing on the IFE that interested me.

Pretty sure windows would be a safety requirement, as you need to see if there is fire on the side of the aircraft and exit on the opposite side. An unlikely scenario, but important all the same.

Off topic, but AF have this procedure where all the cabin lights are off for take off and landing. It's eerie and how the hell would you find an exit in the case of an emergency? I know there are floor lights but why would you do this?

All airlines that I'm familiar with have a policy of dimming cabins lights for takeoff and landing.
