As much as people are jumping up and down and claiming they'll never shop at Woolies again, it looks like the move from Woolies is a smart one. I think it will have a positive impact on the business.

I'll miss the QFF points, but in reality they never amounted to any useful quantity - have a look at your EDR hub to see how few points you have actually accumulated via this programme.

So overall I can't see this changing my spending patterns.

Yes those several hundred thousands points over the years certainly wasn't "useful"

Pleb, whether you are a winner or loser will depend on whether you buy the orange items.

Reality is rather than having the orange everyday rewards only discounted prices, they are now building the discount into a wallet.

Unless there is a substantial increase in these orange ticketed items, I think it's a negative move for me


Agreed. We all need to see the earn details before an actual determination can be made.

As part of that, there is the age old question of what a QFF point is actually worth. I would normally not pay any more than 1.5c/pt.

Woolies hasn't made a smart business decision in at least 3 years.

Only the Liquor and hotel division is making any respectable sales growth.

Yes. The last few CEO's, Chairmans and Head of Supermarkets haven't really had much in the understanding and thought departments. They've done things their own way, haven't paid attention to what's really going on, then blamed everyone else when things go wrong.

I would describe the situation as a revolving door of talent and similar to Coles Myer before Wesfarmers bought them out (and sorted them out!!)

Ahhh, b*gger. I was about to ditch my woolies CC because it really has turned bad after MB bought into the game. Was going to rely upon the relatively small earn coming from Woolies via food/petrol to keep my QF FF current as I seem to be earning and burning almost 100% Velocity points these days and haven't found an opportunity to spend my hoard of QF points for quite a while.

No protest shopping here, but Woolies will slip back into 'meh' territory where I really cease to care, again, which big chain I walk into in order to buy my milk and bread.

By the way, a post above said they'll end up getting their fuel from BP ... with the Velocity partnership I'd be happy to do this, however, maybe its just Perth, but BP stations seem to always be at the bottom of my fuelwatch list (ie, most expensive in perth) and not by any small margin either. Their pricing seems to consistently be 10-20c a litre higher than the discounted price at coles/woolies stations. Whats going on there?

Yes. I think this is a really important factor. If people stop using their EDR cards, the loss of data on consumer spending habits will have to hurt them.

That being said, I wonder how much they even pay attention to that data given the number of "targeted" offers I get for things that are explicitly in my profile as "please do not send me offers on these things" (i.e. being sent alcohol offers when I don't drink alcohol and have explicitly put in my profile not to send me alcohol offers).
 
I was one of the members who got two surveys about the future of the Woolworths loyalty program.

The first survey included QFF points as well as a huge range of other options for rewards. The second survey concentrated on the Woolworths dollars concept and was very similar to the new system which has just been introduced.

In both surveys I asked for QFF points to be included as a rewards option.

I also asked in both surveys for them to pay points/rewards from $1 upwards rather than wait until $30.

I asked for a system that pays you a reward regardless of how much you spend and not based the products you buy. The new system doesn't appear to do this as it seems reliant on you buying specific products to get the reward.

I'm hoping that the targeted offers system will include a an offer along the lines of spend X to get $Y in Woolworths dollars.

The redemption of Woolworths dollars will be tricky for me as I usually only spend over $10 when I'm taking up a targeted offer. If I know I have $10 already on the card I'll need to get $10 extra of stuff in order to take up the current offer and redeem the money already on whichever family member card I'm using for the offer.

This also means I'll have to keep track of multiple card balances and wont' be able to use one family members redemption while using another card. I can do this a flybuys and I can also use less than $10 in flybuys dollars when needed. I'm guessing WW are trying to make it less convenient for members who have multiple card holders in each household.
 
Another points earning opportunity gone!

Has been quite lucrative for me as by selectively using 5 memberships to create spending paterns to "attract" extra promos from them I have averaged earning about 4 QFF points per $ since inception (plus 3 MR points per $ on top of that).

Was not my biggest earner by any means, but hey it was a "nice" yearly bonus on did not go for the product bonuses as they were normally not good value), that did not cost anything in surcahrges or yearly fees , that I would buy anyway.

The ability to earnn extra points, except through card churn, continues to spiral down. :-|

just received Qantas email that states they are continuing discussions with woolies about the partnership into 2016!! may not be the end of the world yet

hope someone from woolies is reading this, i am getting very tired of activating all those 'special' bonus points. why doesn't woolies just let the customers know that these specials are available instead getting the customers doing all the leg works, it is really a time wasting efforts.
 
That's a good idea but I think that the minimum load amount is more than $10.

There's no minimum load if you use EFT from your bank account or transfer funds from one Qantas Cash card to another. The BPay method might have a minimum, I'm not sure - I haven't used it for years because it's slow compared with the other 2 methods.
 
It won't be cat food. They'll be wondering about pallets of toilet paper. A few weeks ago, they sent my store 8 pallets (36 boxes of 3 per pallet for around 820 units over the 8 pallets) of a brand of toilet paper we do not normally stock. They expected the store to sell the entire lot during the 1 week special. Didn't even sell 1/3. Some larger stores got upwards of 14 pallets.

Grant answers to hear a thick Irish accent:

"Lesley, why is your mobile phone off?"

Grant: Because I need a little sleep following our 1-hour yarn at 3am this morning

Irishman: Well what are you going to do? WOW has now gone public with emails to its members about dropping QF.

Grant: Dunno Alan. I'll buy some time by placating the QFF membership with another soothing email like we sent last Friday, assuring members that they can continue earning points at WW until 31 Dec.

Irishman: And then?

Grant: Our negotiations with WW continue.

Irishman: Seriously?

Grant: Well, we'll see.

Irishman: OK, make sure the last bit is in the member email. Meanwhile I sense a major f-up, Lesley. You'd better get to work. Meanwhile, I'm looking at the next round of senior executive culling which I will likely implement, as is traditional, over the Christmas period. Got it?

Grant: Er, yes boss.
 
apparently the new 'enhanced' EDR cards start being mailed out this week. Old EDR will remain in wallet until the end of the year. New EDR card - will wait and see what the new"enhanced" Qantas/woolies deal looks like.

I'm interested to see whether the Woolworths Money Visa Card (which has EDR on the back) also will be replaced
 
Have been a loyal Woolworths customer for many years. I received the emails earlier today both from Qantas and Woolworths, and have emailed Woolworths to say I will be looking for a different supermarket after December 15 if they proceed with the changes. While each trolley may not earn a lot of points, over time, and jumping through the hoops for bonus points when they're available, you reach the elusive overseas flights faster...
