On Wednesday we purchased 2x Woolworths COOK Chicken Breast Marinated Steaks 500g marked down for clearance that day (250 bonus points on each item for us).

Only the base points posted in the App and when we followed up today, the customer service agent said it's because the barcode is different on the mark-down item (true and has always been like that).

Previous experience has been that any item already boosted but subsequently marked down for quick sale, earns full booster points.

It seems the recent introduction of Member Prices may has adversely (inadvertently?) affected a backend process?? and the ability to earn bonus points without manual intervention? Cant see anything specific in the Ts& Cs...

I've the same booster for this product this week but it specified "Chilli Garlic & Rosemary" - was there any similar restriction for yours?

No this time it was a generic offer: Collect 250 points Woolworths Cook Chicken Breast Marinated Steaks 500g varieties (have had both specific and generic offers at different times). Usual offer terms ie You can enjoy the offer multiple times during the offer period ...

Did it scan with the correct product description?
The mark down barcode adds the discounted price and the expiry date (if it wasn't already present) to the barcode. It still retains the product identifying code within the barcode. There shouldn't be any reason for a mark down barcode to impact on the product description.

It is possible for the price embedded in the mark down to impact on the flagging of specials or bonus points that may be applicable for that item.

My turn to receive this generic offer this week and I did receive the booster points even though it was marked down

This is good to know. I had an intended to buy a single marked down item to see if booster points posted but so far this week, no reductions on any of our offers.

A PSA on member pricing.

My offer target this week was spend $100 for 3,000 points. Not great, but the best of the available offers on the family accounts.

When the register hit $100.47 I swiped the EDR card and there was no change to the total, even though I had a couple of member offers.

So I pressed the button to pay and it then dropped to $98.47.

I had other items to scan, so they didn’t catch me this week but it was close.

With the way the IT is set up on these member offers it could be easy to hit your spend target, swipe, pay and then find you’ve fallen just short.

You’ve been warned.

Good info, thank you.

When member offers started, one staff member was constantly walking around the self-checkout area announcing in a loud voice to scan EDR card early to see member pricing “live”.

This makes sense of course but makes the everyday pay process a bit less streamlined if you have a spend offer.

Very slightly off-topic... our local Woolies was upgraded earlier this year. Significant layout changes, self-checkout expansion, new electronic scales installed in the fresh produce area as well as shelving with electronic price tickets. I'm guessing Scan&Go is on the horizon somewhere.

My question is does anyone have general feedback on target spends plus Member Pricing in Scan&Go stores. TIA ;)

I'm not sure about Member pricing but when I have a target I go an extra 2 km to go to the Scan&Go store so that I can get less than $1 over my target.

I still add it up in my head as I go around the store.

I tried that - my maths is still good - my memory 🤷‍♀️
My [current] store was refit 3 years ago.
There are still customers going to the old location of something (which in some cases no longer exists - such as a fridge that isn't there anymore) and getting confused.

They are rolling out electronic produce scales to all stores after a trial. It's been halted at the moment (after stores due to receive them have had the stands installed) due to a shortage of scales.

The electronic shelf labels were trialed in around 16 stores in 2021 and the trial moved to the next stage with stores in 2 groups (half of ACT and near Sydney) getting them, along with stores going through a refit. Currently 147 stores (of 1124) have the electronic tickets or are in the process of installing them. They aren't in the service deli yet. Apparently they've been approved from a food safely standpoint and they are waiting until they can make enough of the tickets to roll out. Have been getting a lot of customer complaints about them.

There was a trial for Scan&Go, but it appears to have dropped off the list of trials and projects. I can't find anything about it newer then last December.

I asked about Scan&Go. It seems that the trail failed and they've canned the idea. Too many inconsistencies and problems across stores to roll out. Customers not wanting to use the in store free wifi and phone reception too variable to work effectively.
They won't pull it out of the stores that have it from the trial (at least not before they go through a refit), but they won't add it to any other stores.

Thanks for update! In store wifi (now at both WOW and COL locals) has been a very positive step from my perspective as both are underground. Used to be quite challenging using apps at the back of each store. Though guess wifi intro more for staff filling online orders. Same challenge receiving phone codes underground.
