Why is it that whenever a "celebrity" has this sort of incident, it is always "a misunderstanding" or due to some amazingly severe medical condition? Why can't they just admit that they were stressed and behaved like a wanker?

He pre-booked an exit row on a Dash8. How? How much difference does an exit row in these planes really make? I find these have more room than the 737s.
He wanted an exit row due to a medical condition. Different rules for celebrities?

Dash8 exit row is only row 1 isn't it?

There are exit rows around the middle. Occasionally status passengers get assigned them by staff thinking they area doing you a favour.

This is where the problem is. He wanted an exit row because of a bad back or similar. Well if he is not fit and able then he can't sit there. Simple as that.

Seeing as the police released him to do the Wagga-dedog show that he went there for, it seems that they knew best.

Given he has only one leg, is he eligible for an exit row? No doubt he handles his prosthetic well.
Do you mean Adam Hills? Wil has osteoarthritis - perhaps that makes him ineligible?

As stated, as soon as he mentioned medical condition, he's no longer able to sit in an exit row. End of story.

According to this story it was a misunderstanding:

Wil Anderson arrested after incident on flight from Sydney to Wagga Wagga - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Mr Anderson told Channel Nine he was pacing up and down on the plane due to a bad back, and believed his actions had been misinterpreted. "I have a sore back and I was up and about pacing and there was a misinterpretation in the intentions of my pacing," Anderson said.

This story goes a bit further:

Wil Anderson says plane arrest due to 'misunderstanding' over sore back - 9news.com.au

"I have a bad back, my back is all taped up, I hurt by back really badly and they put me in the emergency exit row which is good because I get a little bit of extra leg room. "And just before we were about to take off on the plane the flight attendants came up to me and told me 'your back is too bad for you to operate that door'." The comedian this afternoon blasted Qantas on Twitter following his arrest. The tweet has now been deleted.

So he was likely not too pleased by the move.

What a jerk to go straight to Twitter like that. So childish. Then obviously realised he sounded like a moron so deleted it...

Technically you are not right. Just because he has a medically condition doesn't automatically preclude him from sitting in a exit row seat.
