Alitalia is going in October but a new airline will take its place- ITA With many of these airlines going under during Covid, I think we will eventually see new ones replace them over time...

I think that's a fair observation. Where there's money to be made someone will take advantage. New airlines will come in with lower costs through no debt, leased planes, more efficient workforce. Might not get all the status benefits of alliances though!
