JQ NZ Domestic is NOT going - i think you should check your facts on that one.

WOW what a positive thread - the type of thread that you just couldn’t log on quick enough to contribute to! Seriously?
well we are in the middle of one massive fricking recession !!! I'm just a realist. Flicked most of our rental properties & got out of any debt. The big question is how many years before we hit rock bottom ?

Condor is profitable and has secured funds to continue operations. It is flying as normal. It’s profits were apparently being used by Thomas Cook, hence the need to secure short-term funding.

WOW airlines went in April. (I had Iceland Air bookings thankfully).

Im a bit worried about my Kenya Airline bookings but have a plan B (ie, just do/pay what I have to, to get what I need done).

Although travel is being hit now my feeling is the world's economy is in poor shape and soon we will be seeing other industries in trouble.
Wait until the economics of some IT high fliers are examined in detail.Has already happened to WeWork whose IPO looks unlikely to go ahead now.And they have a presence in Australia.

You can add Air Namibia and XL Airways to the list of airlines gone bust in the last two weeks.

What happened with Air Namibia? As far as I can tell, they are still operating.

A bit concerning for me as I'm (supposed to be) flying them soon.

So not completely bust, but in trouble.

ozfflyer,

I understand your fear of a "recession". And I am always one to support pessimism (as they say, an optimist can never be pleasantly surprised). But what exactly is your recession? How does it affect normal people?

I see that some travel businesses have folded. As technology changes and so do peoples spending habits, it is inevitable that old-school businesses die, and likewise new ones will rise. And marginal airlines are exactly that - living on the edge. This has been the same for ever.

But to be blatantly clear, unless I read your posts, I personally would have been unaware that there is a recession. Maybe it is a recession just for some?

Likely QF will be rocky Juddles, since you are changing your preferred method of transport from jet to 4WD!
