What I ate today - the food thread

Breakfast QR 831 on Friday. French toast.

Then snack. We both had the lamb shank.

IMG_2203.jpeg

Mrsdrron thought that the lamb shank on JQ was better. A bit dry, not that much taste and a significant amount of fat.

Then I had the cheese board which was very good and Mrsdrron had coconut banana with coconut ice cream which was OK.

Tonight’s dinner at Maenan Abbey, Wales
I began with venison pate with just a hint of chilli. Loved it.IMG_2502.jpeg

Mrsdrron missed the starter. She had the salmon for main.

I the red mullet. Beautiful.
IMG_2503.jpeg

Fresh veggies.

And we both had a lovely sticky date pudding.

Enjoyed it immensely. Then a chat in the lounge with our host and other guests to round off a lovely evening

Ondeen on a beautiful spring day in the Adelaide Hills

It is where Maximilians used to be which was an institution in Adelaide for many years

Excellent food and they had hairy coos in the paddock IMG_7495.JPGIMG_7496.JPGIMG_7499.JPG

Last year the Manager had the chef bake a Birthday cake for me and that he had to write my name on his hand to get the spelling correct.
The waitress remembered this and she facetimed the Manager who was overseeing at another restaurant.
They arranged for transport to Nusa Kitchen in Jalan Mengiat where we then had dessert
20250902_200030.jpg
Tiramisu and Chocolate cake.
More live music - another enjoyable evening - all for AUD53 including Midori Illusions x2 🍹

Last night’s dinner in Wales. I started with the peppered mackerel pate and the the haddock with a broccoli and cheese crumble Both were very good.

IMG_2553.jpeg

I was a bit hesitant with a broccoli crumble but it was superb and the fish cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed the pate..
Mrsdrron had. The roast rump of lamb and then the toffee pudding again.

IMG_2554.jpeg

There was a picture of the pudding yesterday. For dessert I had the raspberry crumble. Very nice.

After dinner you retire to the lounge and enjoy time with the other guests and the host. Really enjoyed it.
On the second night our host had baked a pistachio cake with rose cream filling. Beautiful.
