What do Qantas crew know about you?

I got a free bottle of wine a few weeks ago. I was in J on QF571 and it was put in a QF wine gift bag. The reason given was my status achievement. I think they got the year wrong, because I hit platinum last year, but I really appreciated the gesture.

Ah, QF, consistent in their inconsistency!

Considering they can see the manifest and probably quite a lot more, I'm not sure why that would be an issue. I'm not saying much could be done on a Q400, but some extra recognition/crew knowing about recent +/-'s would be useful.

For flights on a Q400 (or any Qantaslink flight for that matter) they could assign food preferences, for example, would the customer prefer a muesli bar or savoury muffin

I wonder how members they have identified on this forum and if they are actively monitoring their comments?
Now that AFF is linking to Qantas and Virgin to 'verify' your elite status, they now have very very easy access to anything you've posted here.

Personally, there's no way I will ever use a service like this. Qantas and Virgin know plenty about me already and do not need to know my social media details.

If you've ever posted about being on certain flights they probably already have a fair idea who you are.

Personally I don't think much has changed with this new Status linker.

Thanks mannej.Missed that one and search came up with no answers.
Think I will pass.

Indeed. No way I'm giving my Pin to anyone other than a QFF employee that answers my phone call or the missus on the off chance I leave this place earlier than anticipated.

Hmmm like others, don't think I want to give out my pin, doesn't sound secure to me.

Agreed. I'm not doling out my account PIN to anybody, let alone a web site even if it is AFF.

People get toey about the personal data WOW and others are mining.....that's nothing compared to the information buried in your FF account!

I am only new here, and have never posted on what flights i'm on, here or elsewhere. I am not even on Facebook or Twitter.

This is incorrect. No entity including airlines has access to your specific information entered via the Status linker - and that agreement is not given when entering your data.

The only information available is "user handle" -> Status.

All they know for sure about me is:
AFF Verified Airline Status
Qantas Status: Platinum
Virgin Status: Platinum

The most access an airline may have is if they request AFF to supply a list of member handles with a certain status.

In my case with this they would see "serfty WP" - with that information they may contact me via AFF with an offer.

How will you get the PIN to her if you leave earlier than anticipated?

Interested to see what they would record.. I flew my first F flight a few months ago and asked for a cosmo (or more specifically vodka, cointreau and cranberry - not sure if they would have lime). The FA apologised and said they didn't have cranberry juice - no biggie.
At the end of the flight, the CSM came and apologised about the lack of cranberry juice and said she would make a note on my profile or something..
Next flight in F is at the end of the month, the one after that is less than two weeks later... not that it makes any difference to me, but it would be interesting to see if they said anything.
