What cheeses me off

I have been in real estate since 1989 and I have been renting here in Brisbane since 2008.

Today I got a call from new real estate agent. We moved in 2 days ago and my rent is $600/week. I have already paid $1200 in advance and as I got paid this fortnight I paid another $970.

Why did you make a part payment? It's not encouraged!

Why? I had extra money left over and decided to pay extra. I seriously do not see an issue.

Anyway she gave up. This is a silly request. Just receipt what I paid in the tenant Ledger and who cares whether I have part paid in advance or not. Now I need to make sure I only pay in $600 increments. I like to be 3 weeks in front and when I get paid I'm still 1 week in front so I do not fall behind.

It makes more work for them to keep track of payments. But I do the same to my body corporate to avoid bill shock. Works for me.

I've not seen the software but surely they enter Customer Id, amount and it calculates paid to date + part payment then they send PDF receipt?

It's OK but I've now realised they like to keep their job simple and to be honest I'm really happy with them otherwise we'd still be looking for an apartment.

WCMO? The my kitchen rangehood extractor fan has decided to give up the ghost tonight with zero prior warning. The light works fine, but there's nobody home on any of the fan speed settings. Guess I'll just add it to the list of currently non-functioning fans in kitchen appliances at "Casa de DejaBrew" as of now (yeah, I'm looking at you too presently non fan-forced oven) :(
 
So, during the midst of Covid I got a message that my Skoda was subject to recall. I ignored it. Not like we could go anywhere and this was a long way to travel. I'd already had the airbags replaced by one ( Takata). This new one was for the transmission.

Since then I've had the car serviced locally but their last service was a shocker. This time I drove onto the city to a Skoda service centre and they of course picked up I hadn't had the recall completed. Because it's a big one they said they had to order the parts in and that would take 2 months. So September 1 it was. They organised a loan car. Which is the latest model of my car and only done 4000k ( mine is 10 years old) so having the new technology is interesting. Supposed to be done within the week.

Today I got the phone call. Oh yes. It's faulty. The repair needs to happen. Now we will order the parts in, that will take a week. 🤬🤬🤬. Told them if it wasn't done by next Thursday then they wouldn't be getting their car back for a while as we are going overseas. Oh.

What the heck was that two month wait all about?

When my car was recalled, they replaced the faulty part with a similarly faulty part and it had to be recalled again šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

What was the faulty part, if you know?

We are now up to 12 months and we still don't have a functioning update to the computer for our VW tow barcand loom.

Cars controlled by C-Bus! I was recently told of a car with a blown head light globe, after it was replaced the car needed the C-Bus/computer reprogrammed by the service tech guys.......

I’ll ask but it was Skoda Fabia transmission issue back in 2020. The components are all VW.

So about those headlights. We had a similar issue. Service at Dodge brothers a while back last year and no day lights so they replaced globes which lasted all of a month. So in the July service I told the service people to replace them again as they weren’t working. After that service two months ago they told me they were working now. Of course a bit later when I drove into the carport I could see they weren’t working at all. So last Monday I told them they hadn’t been fixed. Oh. There’s no record of that here (must check mine when I get car back). They only checked headlights. Duh. As if I’ve drive if the headlights were out. So they told me today the globes had blown. No cough Sherlock I told you lot that back in July šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Here’s the recall:
The recall was for a potential fault in the "pressure accumulator housing" which could crack, leading to a loss of hydraulic oil and pressure. This could interrupt power delivery, causing the gearbox to enter "limp mode" and potentially not restart, increasing the risk of a collision. Affected owners were contacted and invited for a free inspection and repair.

MrP is suggesting I discuss these two issues with the Manager. Wonder if they treat all customers like this or maybe just women - ie they don’t bother listening to them.

New apartment with small kitchen with space for fridge (one of our fridges just fits, phew) with stove cooktop and oven next to fridge, then 2 feet of bench top with external window right there.

Could not have put too much thought into it. Open the window to cook but the rangehood is not strong enough to take care of all the smoke/steam. We've now been here 7 nights and I've set the smoke alarms off 3-4 times. I haven't yet worked out how to stop smoke alarm quickly as broom handle doesn't quite turn off smoke alarm. My wife panicks any time I do any cooking so she open balcony doors and now front door as well.

The silly part is that they have a dishwasher (we don't use it) opposite the stove that would have been perfect for the stove but then no room for rangehood as that is the open part of the kitchen/dining area.

Or the kitchen window could have opened the opposite side in front of sink rather than in front of stove.

Not complaining as I still feel we were lucky to get this place after countless rejections.

And in less than 1 week I've been sleeping better and more comfortable WFH here. And there's a church across the road with a daycare/kindergarten next to it and I love hearing the kids play. We have a busy road during the day but quiet from around 9:00pm when mall closes until morning rush hour traffic.
 
WCMO -: The degree of entitlement on show ahead of boarding for QF4 this morning in AKL.

A few of us had formed an orderly - and clearly-defined - queue at the priority boarding point as it was obvious boarding was about to commence. A P1 was escorted ahead of everyone (no issues with that), but then a whole bunch of DYKWIA pax just decided that there was (apparently) no queue and that they were miraculously the first people to arrive for boarding and just waltzed ahead to form their own disorderly queue. Ground staff even told them to back off, but they just milled around, largely ignoring the staff.

Kiwi bloke ahead of me incredulously enquires of the DYKWIA pax breezing past us ā€œā€¦.so are you all just going to ignore the queue that’s already formed here??ā€ Obviously they ignored him because clearly there was no queue and we were all ghosts, anpparently invisible to the naked eye. :rolleyes:
