What cheeses me off

Incompetent people

Doing travel claim and can't log into the NIB portal so they said just email them the info and I said isn't there a form. Nope no form was the response

Emailed details and get a response - you need to fill out the form. Of course there is always an effing form so now filling out the form

Sigh

PS just in case it's not clear I am ready to come home

NIB. I am looking to cancel my annual policy with them as I have found a better one that includes my medical conditions (southern Cross).

I called NIB with a question that if I cancelled would there be a pro rata reimbursement of my premium?

Agent: Oh, that requires a whole bunch of information. I’ll send you an email with the information you need to send. Me: But I only want to know if it’s the policy to reimburse or not? Them: No, you’ll have to answer the email.

Email came with a whole bunch of absolutely irrelevant questions which I just put – – against.

Reply from them, sorry we can’t help you with this one. Please call.

Next agent answered perfectly straightforward. Yes and if you send us the proof that you’re returned to Australia, we will reimburse from the date you return.

Well that was way harder than it needed to be....

Very cheesed off, :( I must have hired hundreds of cars over the years without an issue.

Very slowly reversed into a rock wall, the car does have sensors, no camera, but the warning sound was off. A few scratches.
However, I have taken full coverage, so fingers crossed, it will be ok. Also annoyed as it newish and has no other marks.
Also hit a bird, silly thing flew into the front of the car, at least it wasn’t a stork.

Music to my ears! Sometimes I call FAX numbers to relive those days…😂

To be fare, dialup peaked at 56kps download speed! Heady days….
And only one could be using it at the same time. We had a hogger at work who didn't actually need it in her job. When she ducked downstairs' for coffee or break I'd go in and turn it off. Then make sure whoever actually needed it got online.

Takes me back. I was one of those lucky people who had a dedicated second (used for the internet only) phone line so that I wouldn't be kicked off when someone decided to call the house. Was the envy of my mates back in the day 🤣

Yes our work had this too. In around 2000?
Yeah, think I got mine around 97/98? Was fun for a while when the Telstra tech came to do the original "installation", but instead of a proper job, managed to add the second line and simultaneously cross the two connections such that any time someone rang the main line, they'd boot my modem off the internet and the second phone line could make outbound calls that showed as coming from the main line. Finally got it sorted when I threatened engaging the ombudsman. Different tech came out to fix the installation and wanted to know what the original tech had been smoking as it was one of the dodgiest installs he'd ever come across! Smooth sailing from then on.

WCMO is having top tier hotel status ... and you go to a hotel, and they say "we'll only upgrade you if you book a different room type". What?

This is exactly why I don't use hotel loyalty programs anymore.
And what on earth do they mean by that?? Are you not spending enough on a fancy room in the first place?

Companies that send you an offer, take your money and then don't provide the bonus' from the offer - I'm looking at you Accor Plus. I don't want to have to call up and follow-up; defeats the purpose of having a website/app.

WCMO more, insurance company promises to provide policy information and justification for 45% price increase. So now have to lodge a AFCA complaint. Avoid TAL at all costs - so dodgy.

I've got a credit card holder similar to this one

Screenshot_20250721_134026_Samsung Internet.jpg

I hardly ever take credit card out as it ruins sleeves. I fold everything back and just have the one card I want to use sticking out but some terminals have difficult time processing the credit card.

Yesterday at fruit market I touched the NAB credit card about 3 times and it beeped each time. Possibly saying too many cards or something similar. Finally accepted the card and off we went.

I was checking ANZ today and noticed the transaction from yesterday on the ANZ credit card.

How it manages to read a card other than the one touching the reader is confusing. This is not the first time either.
