What cheeses me off

Rent bidding is illegal in Queensland. Landlords (or their agent) can ask people to name their best price. Advertised rent must be fixed.

But it’s not illegal for a prospective remnant to voluntarily offer a higher amount than stated.

I would double check the rules, and see if it gives you some flexibility.
Not sure about the rules as there are conflicting reports.

This from RTA QLD. (I don't know if its a combination of advanced payment and offering more but it would appear that accepting more than advertised price is illegal

Any thinking outside the box ideas? If the place is in good condition offer to pay first $100 of any repairs/callouts? Might be cheaper than an extra $20 in rent.

Oh! You’re right. My bad. The law has changed.

I hope they have ways to monitor and enforce it.
So if a renter offered more than the advertised rate, the offer was accepted and then renter complained to the authorities do you think that renter would ever again be allowed to rent?

WCMO is those rubber "feet". Sure, they do a great job of anti-slip, but they are stuck (glued) onto the base, and the problem is that they start to loosen from their foundations relatively quickly. I guess they were figuring that people wouldn't try and drag their laptop across surfaces such that it imparts a lot of force on the feet, but it becomes really annoying once those feet start to become loose.

The HP Spectre x360 was bad for that too.

WCMO… the latest end-of-year commercials for the Miele sales.

10% off and ‘an incredible’ 5-year warranty.

No!!! I’d expect my premium dishwasher to last a lot longer than five years thank you! A five year warranty is pathetic, not ‘incredible’.

I also think the retailer advertising the above - and Miele too - are being misleading. Your statutory rights will likely give you a lot longer than a 5 year warranty, yet I’m sure plenty of people somehow link the ‘incredible’ warranty period with the end of their rights.

Today it's bad pizza. It's bland and they cut into tiny pieces like it's for a day care. I've put mixed herbs and garlic on this and it's still terrible

Also the neighbours non stop barking dog, maybe a new dog?

And my masseuse today, who seemed to have been working out some angst against middle aged women and taking it all out on me today because she kept giggling while saying, 'Yes, sore... very sore', while continuing to pummel me with her mighty but small hands 😂

Son and daughter inlaw's Miele dishwasher only had a two year warranty. Dishwasher stopped working 2 years 2 months later, powerboard. They rang Miele, no sorry not covered, out of warranty. they appealed to someone higher up, no go, sorry.

Daughter inlaw says, if thats the case then you won't mind bad reviews on facebook and other social media avenues, they said we will review it, and guess what, they will fix it. All fixed within a week.

Covered under Australian consumer law. Must last a reasonable time. Miele in Australia are a HKG company. Spare parts horendously expensive. I have repaired my own when need arose but I will not buy another Miele product as it is really s4it customer service...and did I mention, expensive.

Indeed. The disconnect is between call centre staff and them not knowing ACL. A request for the legal department to review the matter generally does the trick!

Genuine question. Which would be preferable for domestic flights on India and Indonesia?

Previously I'd choose Vistara and genuinely thought it was a good airline. Great service and new planes too. That's no longer an option.

Same for domestic in Indonesia. I feel Garuda and the best option (from a safety perspective). The rest seem way dodgier from what I can gather.

About 10 million scheduled flights in India in the last decade and 2 fatal crashes. About 5 million in Indonesia and 2 fatal jet crashes.

If you want to make your extremely high chances of survival higher - fly outside of the local wet season, fly to airports with longer runways (overruns are a feature of each nation), fly on jets not turboprops. And somehow avoid ground based transportation in each country, you know where the real risk of a transport related accident is going to occur.

Reminds me of those people who’ve asked if it’s safe to fly a certain airline to Bali but admitted they’ve ridden scooters there drunk with plastic helmets 🙄
