Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

Operator confirmed the 60K bonus and accrued points to the date if change will credit to.QFF. Will wait and see. Not much downside though 60K altitude points is still good value. Although I will fight for the QFF if needs be.

Just a cynic, from reading this forum I have to say there is a fair chance that any given CSR may not be 100% aware of the facts! The fact that so much of this particular promo is not written down concerns me a little given I have had to use a copy of the T&Cs last few times I have applied for a card to actually get what I was entitled to.

Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

Gday

I applied for the Altitude Black over the phone and said i was after the free points and no annual fee in the first year. He said yep that's the deal. Went through all the hoops as a non Westpac customer. Got the email and will head up to the branch next week with ID and other requested docs to collect the card. If there is any dispute regarding the deal i will just ask for a copy of the phone call from when i applied for it. I have done it before with disputes with banks and it has been all good.

Just as an addition i notice that the Westpac Altitude cards now have the free points deal and no annual fee deal on their website but says it's only for existing customers.

OK, so now have the card and expect my bonus points after the first statement cycle.

A question re the QC invitations. The Website says you get these after making an eligible Qantas purchase; the T & C's seem to suggest that this is only QF flights (not even JQ), QFF and QC membership:

selected Qantas products and services in Australiameans Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flightnumber) purchased on the Qantas merchant account, i.e.directly with Qantas or some travel agents, and QantasFrequent Flyer and Qantas Club membership joiningand annual fees. Excludes Jetstar, Qantas Holidays, andQantas branded non-airfare products.

Pretty restrictive.

Anyone had any luck getting the passes other than booking flights or membership?

Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

Just got approved for this yesterday, the last day of the promotion.... or so it was....

CSR told me the promotion was extended to May 1. Also got it fee-free for the first year, not being a Westpac customer.

Not extended online and who knows about the branch/phone deal as its not documented anywhere and results seem to vary considerably on who you talk to. I suspect many will be disappointed with Westpac here and there will be many complaints!

Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

Starting to get a bit confused. I applied online and haven't been charged the annual fee - does that mean I won't get the 60K? I applied via a big online banner that said 60,000 points and no mention of the annual fee being waived. Hope I get the points :(

Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

Yes not advertised online on Westpac site. Only in-branch or over the phone (depending on the operator's knowledge)

My wife and I applied online, emailed our financials to the card applications team at Westpac and picked up our cards from the local branch.

We received the fee waiver after the first spend.

The annual fee is reversed as soon as it appears on account at the end of the month.

Online applications also receive the fee waiver ! :)

Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

The Westpac website has been updated to show their new offers; no bonus points are listed and no annual fee is only listed for pre-existing Westpac customers. If the promotion has been extended until May 1, does that mean they're still offering the bonus points / fee free for non-customers for in branch applications?

Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

60k QF points finally came through with points from the regular spend on the second statement.

Re: Westpac Reward Cards First Year Annual Fee Waived & up to 60,000 Bonus Points

Im interested in this too. Is it 2 lounge passes after first spend on QF products? I have no current reason to buy a QF flight but would like the passes. If I buy a fully flexible fare and cancel it after I close this credit card will there be any issue in 1: having it refunded to a different CC & 2: keeping the lounge passes?

My lounge passes arrived a few days ago, with the letter dated a week prior to arrival. The QF purchase was a few days prior to the date on the letter. So in my experience, it has been less than two weeks from purchase to receipt of passes.

On the date of purchase, I bought a QF gift voucher and booked a flight using that same gift voucher.

The passes are dated as valid until end of May 2016.

I ended up needing to book a classic award which seems to have counted for the QF spend as I received the lounge passes about a week later.

Forgot to take a copy of the T&Cs, does any have a record of how long the bonus 60k would take to post? Was it 3 months from the first purchase?

Yes it was 3 months.

Got my 60k bonus points with my second statement. Quite pleased with this card - 60k bonus points, annual fee waived and six months interest free.

You'd have to be churlish not to be pleased with that!

I have had an Earth Black for many years with a monthly expenditure of nearly $40K/month. I have just received the NAB Premium cards with 40,000 QFF points and a fee-free card for the first year. I also just discovered that with an annual expenditure of at least $7500 and with 500 or more NAB shares the card is renewed for free!
As my Earth Black card renewal date is approaching I contacted Westpac to see what they could offer. The best was a discounted fee of $195.
Is there any reason why I wouldn't cancel my card with Westpac and use the NAB cards? I don't use the NAB Visa card as I have a fee-free Citibank Signature card for life with an earn rate of 1QFF/$; just their Amex with an earn rate of 1.5QFF/$

So I just noticed that Westpac charged the annual to fee to my account.... NOT impressed.

I had a similar issue recently with the equivalent NAB card. It turned out that although I'd rung to apply for the Fee Free card offer, they enrolled me on a card with the same name, but on a 0% balance transfer offer (that also carried the full fee). It's taken a month of follow up, but the fee reversal came through today.
My advice: make a complaint and keep persevering...

My advice: PDF the offer and then make the complaint, they dont seem to argue much if you have proof.

The branch where my and I applied for the card advised us that the annual fee would be charged to the account and advised us to telephone the bank once the fee is charged to get it reversed. We followed their advice and there was no issue with the fee reversal.
