Well then you paid quite substantially less than you would have with Qantas (around 50%), hope you are taking that into account with your comparison between the two.
You would be surprised what my average spend on Qantas is compared to Virgin.

By the way my average spend on Qantas is not that much considering most of my flights SYD-BNE and vv over the past 4 years have been $65, $69, $75, $79, $85 and $89 each. And I have well over 600,000 QFF points (more than enough for 4 Oneworld awards) when just 3 years ago I was down to less than 100,000 QFF points. I would hate to think what I have earned if I had done all my flying on Virgin.

But to each their own.
 
Remind yourself also, EVERYONE gets fed (albeit kinda MEH) on QF - VA are still selective. I don't care as I seldom eat on a DOM flight anyway.

I really do not understand what you are trying to say.

If there are constant threads on AFF that Virgin are better than Qantas would you like me to stay out of these threads and everyone can then assume that Virgin is better than Qantas? You are obviously not interested in negative feedback and only interested in one-sided arguments.

- I couldn't care less about priority boarding
- I do care about "free" drinks and food
- I do care about lounges
- I do care about FF programs
- I do care about aircraft type

From memory I do not start threads that Qantas are great and they do this right and they do that right. But when I see a thread that is one sided that is also not right either.

Virgin are nothing special. Qantas is not much better. Jetstar is simply a joke....

I agree with you.

This thread was predominantly about having a nice experience on Virgin having top status and being the only person in business class.

- Someone who books el-cheapo economy class airfares is not going to have the same experience
- Someone who books el-cheapo economy class airfares and has status may not also have the same experience

But this thread said that "Virgin seem to be getting everything right". I know for a fact Virgin does not get everything right.

Do we only want to read accounts of people who are sitting there high-fiving each other? I guess anyone who disagrees is wrong....
 
I am also a big DJ fan. Been flying with them for business since mid 2006. A lot of great changes have come about in that time. Much of the success has been since John Borghetti has taken over. I've been told the reason he didn't get the top job at QF after Dixon left, was because Alan Joyce had a much higher concern for shareholders and John was more about customer service. In the last 12 months, we've seen that in spade fulls. The saddest thing for me is that the company I fly for now forces us to fly QF. I got within 10 SC's of going Platinum. So close.

I am also a big DJ fan. Been flying with them for business since mid 2006. The saddest thing for me is that the company I fly for now forces us to fly QF.

I'm very similar to you. A DJ flyer before the changes (but probably about 2008, not 2006), but I see something different. All these changes are nice (predominantly) but it has come at a cost. As I buy my airfares, I certainly see the difference. My flying costs have increased with DJ by about 35% in the last 18 months. There may be a reason why your boss is sticking with/changing to QF. The biggest issue I see, is with TT on a leash, JQ has little LCC competition. DJ vowed to keep LCC and so they have, they just charge more for it, which has allowed JQ to simply follow suit, just marginally behind. Now with Air OZ gone, we really need to see TT come back and that will change the whole ball park. I've already decided to return to BFOD when the competition returns. I'll let DJ fight it out with QF (or become a QF clone.....whatever their plan is) and I'll be mostly a TT/JQ flyer. From where I sit, DJ have made some nice changes......some I've even benefited from.....but they are targetting the bigger budgets, not me and those like me. It's a shame, I was happy enough with them before the changes, now....not so much.

Pretty much sums up my feelings, however I can't afford to be late in my business so it's still qf or dj, but alarmingly for dj, most of my flights have been qf lately because they are much cheaper, and timed better to suit my personal requirements at the time
