Virgin Lounge Food

Last week SYD had decent options at dinnertime. From memory, choice of beef pie (with a small amount of mushy peas inside), chicken pie or pastie. Dished out by staff so they can't be pillaged by the hordes. There was self-serve frittata as well (not hot).

I'm told the QC had chicken wings at that time, so the VA lounge was the winner on the food front.

Is it just me but I'm tempted to BYO food to the lounge, or tempted to skip altogether and visit a proper cafe and have a feast there?

Interesting new option in SYD - Priority Pass Members Can Now Eat & Drink For Free At Sydney Airport - One Mile at a Time

$36 of credit can be had at seven participating restaurants - (T1) Benny Burger, Mach2, Peroni Bar; (T2) Bistro 2020 & Bar, MoVida; (T3) Bar Roma, Wok On Air.

It would seem Melb lounge Friday's leftovers were still there Sunday night. Blech. Yellow rice. SHould have known better
Flavourless is polite ... half a mouthful and then back to the trusty old toasted sandwich...

This afternoon in the Perth lounge, a quite decent risotto (vegetarian, I think - there was no sign) and a cream cauliflower soup in addition to the usual fare.

Lots and lots of salt....
I try to stick to the grainwaves and popcorn; best bit about the lounge.

Asparagus & Pink Peppercorn soup, Coconut rice with peri-peri chicken on offer tonight in BNE.

A shame the rice is like mush!

Per Dom Lounge tonight

Usual salad/meats spread with Ceasar salad (no dressing, weird...). They were handing out coughbed chicken tenders with dipping sauce (was filling).

Apricot chicken and rice. Very nice

Sooooo... who is loving the jaffas and liquorice all-sorts? The latter is taking me back to the QP-days. If only VA could find some trays of Q's old choco-macadamia slice, geeze I loved that stuff.

Those huge Jaffas are super!

It's all lentils and quinoa in the salad bar, soup the only hot option for all of my flights this week (x7) across several cities.

I am very much over the VA lounge and lack of any variety.

Fly QF then if it is sooo much better....

Edit: The offending articles in the BNE lounge this afternoon.

Well, *I* didn't make comparisons, and I plan to enjoy the SYD Flounge later this week :)

But as you seem interested: I see plenty of both lounges and IMHO there is often little to split them, food wise. Both surprise on occasions (party pies or pizza in PER J), but the baseline is mostly static in both... hence frequent fliers see the same thing very often.

In one or two words: exactly what culinary delights DOES one want to see in a Lounge these days?

I'm thinking a rotation of nice morsels such as quality single serve pizza, mini quiche, chicken or steak pot pies or even some nice pulled pork sliders etc.
