Virgin Lounge Food

In one or two words: exactly what culinary delights DOES one want to see in a Lounge these days?

While I'm all for the suggestions made by others for tasty morsels, my point was that the basic items never change... so very frequent pax quickly run out of new things to try.

Perhaps if each lounge had a bit of variety, local flavour and the like rather than stock standard offerings everywhere. And how much extra effort would it take to rotate (for example) salads on a daily basis across a 7, 10 or 14 day cycle. I bet it could be achieved with less than 20 ingredients needed, most would already be stocked and costs kept within existing parameters. Only change is getting the staff to make an effort, it's not rocket surgery ;)

Yarp. My family keep suggesting this to the Chef in our kitchen at home. Too bad she's always lurking on the internet instead of dreaming up new dishes to serve...

Sooooo... who is loving the jaffas and liquorice all-sorts? The latter is taking me back to the QP-days. If only VA could find some trays of Q's old choco-macadamia slice, geeze I loved that stuff.

Yeah a few of those jaffas may have found their way into my bag last week when hubby and I were there.

The asparagus and pink peppercorn soup though can go take a hike. Won't be trying that again!

To be frank though, I am just happy when there's something gluten-free for me to have and several glasses of bubbly. I do not require much.

(the addition of grain waves recently was fun too)

You can get Grainwaves on special at Woolies $1.50 at the moment for about a kilo of them if you want! ;) Will forward this special to VA catering team!

This morning's breakfast in the BNE lounge was good - my usual bacon with pancakes was supplemented by "Spanish fritters" - corn fritters with a hint of chilli?

Interesting. Were they any good? I didn't think Virgin had the fryers for mass frying... Or did they taste baked?

Yeah, they weren't too bad. Hmmm... yeah, now that you say that, perhaps they were baked. I couldn't quite tell. They tasted fine, though could've been warmer.

If only they would serve Hot chips all day. They didn't have chips the last time they had burgers in MEL

OOL lounge today has Beef bolognese penne pasta with parmesan cheese. A bit dry but quite tasty.

Also pumpkin quiche slices.

I had some of that in the SYD lounge the other evening. Also a bit dry but with more sauce I would probably have spilt it on my trousers.

It was tasty and hit the spot

Anyone had the DIY burrito in Mel last night? I almost never complain about VA lounge food but that was horrible.
