Hadn't been in the SYD lounge for a few months but today was mildly surprised by a big stack of BACON by the pancakes. Having just returned from Canada and the US I couldn't resist getting pancakes, putting bacon on top (and not that pathetic burnt stuff they have in North America) and pouring on the 'maple' syrup. Ah! Delicious.

Melbourne last night, half empty as usual. Made myself a sandwich. As usual. Had a quick look at some very tired grey pulled pork and backed away quickly. Ongoing disappointment, I now often don't even bother going to the VA lounges!

In Cairns lounge Sunday night, they had the best Chicken Thai Soup! It was so delicious and hot we had 2 bowls each

Quelle horreur a while back we were on the way on holiday and hit the lounge for a couple of celebratory drinks before our flight and there was no sparkling to be had.

We were told they were waiting on a delivery. :( :(

Not good enough Virgin.

Immediate J upgrade and appologies in abundance would be be just scratching the surface!

Trouble is for you, this is an airline who think they now have some ordained right to be haughty when they fail, but in reality, they are little more than JQ and fail all the bloody time!

Hopefully, the rest of your holiday didn't disappoint as much as VA does!

Pie's and muscle peas in the Perth lounge again.

Do the muscle peas have a strong flavour? :-D

BNE on Wednesday morning had baked beans as the hot breakfast option, instead I made myself a boiled egg, tomato relish, ham cheese and tomato toastie which was good - though the (new?) sandwich toasters they have in the BNE lounge are tiny, and take foreeeeever!

Im going to be a special snowflake and complain. Darwin, where its approx. 34c, 1pm>2.20pm had pancakes and pumpkin soup.

Yes, because the first thing I think of when in NT and Im hungry is hot pancakes and a nice hot winter soup.

But what time does the bar open? I know the NT is a special case!

No idea as I don't drink booze but lots of people enjoying multiple bottles of beer before the flights. To the point that I was concerned at least 2 guys were working towards getting drunk and they were still drinking when I left the lounge.

I know the QP is 1pm around the country but I recall it's 11am in Darwin! Early openers or what?

My brother lived in Darwin in the late 70s and said it wasn't unusual to be offered a beer at 8 in the morning when arriving at someone's house.

Melbourne is 11am...I presume the rest of the country is the same?

It WAS 1pm most everywhere I thought but I haven't been in a QP in over a year. Must have changed to match Darwin.

This is the VA Lounge thread  :?:
The bar opens at 11am everywhere AFAIK.

Shows what a boozehound I'm not. I don't mind a beer in the arvo but 11am? Crikey.

The butter chicken curry is going down a treat all over the VA SYD lounge tonight. It actually has real chicken in it. Better than the curry I had last in the Dom J QP in BNE.

No sight of Russell Crowe either......
